Planned a minor job to sort out a sticky door lock yesterday but on taking of the door card and trim, found evidence of rust along the base of the door quarter light. Took out the whole window and found two small but nasty patches of rust at either end of the flange that the rubber window seal sits on. Read some previous threads that suggest this is a bit of a Tipo phenomenon, affecting only the n/s door! Close inspection showed just a tiny bit of paint bubbling on the outside under the rubber and there is certainly no other sign of this anywhere on the car. Strange indeed!
Hope I have now managed to stop the rot just in time, having spent the whole weekend on it. Does anyone have any theories as to why just this one place?

I'll try but I may well be wrong. There's more water around on the nearside due to road camber, e.g. my tipo was far rustier on the nearside. Secondly the quarterlight pillar channels water down to the metal. Fiesta Mk11s often had a hole in the door just below the quarterlight pillar !
