Hi, just purchased a 3 door 1.4 ie. S.
Needs work, but the body is sound.
I'd like to change the interior as its a bit shabby!!!
Also the headlining is knackered, is the interior interchangeable apart from the obvious 3 and 5 door versions.
Cheers
Bob

Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your Tipo project.

It could be a trial sourcing replacement parts these days, especially a 3-door interior. Has the car been abused by transporting rubbish inside, or is it just general wear and tear to the seat sides etc?

I stripped a 5-door interior a few years ago but probably only the carpet and boot cover would be common.

The most important thing is to really check underneat for rust - behind the bumpers, all the sill / floor seams etc.

I've probably fixed most things to keep my 95 1.4 going over the years, it's still hanging on...

Yeah just general wear and tear. The bodywork doesn't look too bad and it passed MOT late May this year!
I'm looking for a more sporty look like the
Sedicivalvole!!!!

I used to have a Fiat Uno and that's why I joined this website.

Is there anybody about on here who has spares or knows where to get them from???

Cheers

Don't know it's L reg (1994).
Stuck on drive at the moment, need to transfer insurance over from my Lancia, but waiting until October as it will be cheaper.

Hi,
When you're ready if you need any help with insurance at all then please feel free to give us a try.
Regards,
Dan.

Any idea on cambelt changes?
I've got the history and it says it was done around the 20,000 mile mark and its now on 63,661.
Will it need doing???

Yes definitely do the cambelt (unless you check it carefully and it looks new). If that goes then the car will probably end up scrapped unless you're really keen! Parts should be cheap and easy.. Ebay probably (do the bearing as well).

I think it's pretty straightforward on those engines. Also clean out the crank breather pipe and filter from the front of the engine up to the airbox, they can get cruddy.

I'd change all the fluids too ... gearbox, brake, coolant etc.

Need help. We have a fiat palio weekender 16v. When we drive especially in traffic first gear does not whant to go into gear. Have to switch off car pump clutch and then it goes into gear.
Pleas some advise

with such little use,
I'd change the waterpump too ( common cause of cambelt failure)

Any idea on prices for the above work, water pump, bearing and cam belt etc???
Also, the passenger electric window doesn't work, i was told it's come off it's rails???
You can hear it trying, clicking when you press the button, the guy put tape over the button to stop you using them. I didn't want to **** about with it too much incase it comes down and it won't go back up!!!!

Labour for the engine work should be about 2 hours max, there would be cost for the new coolant needed etc.

Parts are cheap on Ebay but it is incredibly hard to determine exactly which one fits your car... I looked previously and there are different combinations of pulley wheel (v-groove or flat ribbed), PAS and non PAS, etc etc.

Cambelt kit £30, pump £15 or less...

Cheers,
I think I'll go by the engine and chassis numbers etc...

Got my Teapot insured last night for the 1st February.
I need a new headlining, are these all the same, will a 5 door fit my 3 door???
I also want some new seats, anyone have any ideas????
Cheers

As regards the headlining, you'll have to have a look and think, depending on how close it runs to the door areas which would be the place for differences. Won't be easy to find for either...

What's wrong with your interior? I like the Tipo seats, are yours just very worn or mucky?

A 3-door should take at least the front seats from an Alfa 147, leather can be nice.

What colour is your uinterior? That nice blue / red check, or the beige / brown check?

The seats are knackered, split and really grubby.
Shame really as I bet they looked good when new.
They are the red, blue and grey check type.

Yes, a shame as they are the nicest colour...

I think your best bet would be to look for Mk2 Punto 3-door seats, Sporting or HGT if you're lucky. There were a few in a medium blue colour that would probably blend in nicely... Otherwise maybe a Bravo?

What colour is the car?
