I dont know if this will be the same between models but on my 1.4ie, when you turn the steering to full lock and keep trying to turn it (like when your doing manouvers etc) there is a grinding noise, kinda like a belt slipping or similar. also there is sometimes a watery sound at the same time.

it only does this when you have the wheel to complete lock where it stops and hold it there. if you move the wheel a cm off lock, the noise stops.

at first i thought it might the the tyres rubbing somewhere but it does it when the cars not moving so ive put it down to the power steering.

does anyone else have this and is it normal or anything to worry about? there arent any leaks or anything.

i know that all the cars ive been in with PAS make a kinda buzzing/humming sound when on full lock :chin:

Yeah my one Whines aswell at Full lock, no grinding though but in the Instruction manual for the car it does say do not hold a Full lock or you will strain the Hydraulic system.

Someone got rid of a Grinding sound on here by draining the power steerin fluid and refilling it with clean fluid and away the sound went.
