Crank the handle one way and it tilts up at the rear, but turn it the other way and it's solid. It just starts to tip down at the back by about 5 mm, but then the resistance is too great, and it won't move down or back any further.

It's no big deal, but it annoys me when things don't work as intended. Does anyone have experience on these?

could be the cables are seized and need lubing/replacing. dont force it as you will stretch the cables

Any experience of stripping it?

done a few sunroof's but not on a fiat.if you can get the trim etc of to get to the cables you could apply wd40/releasing fluid gradually over a week or 2 and see if it loosens up.
once you start stripping further than that it canbe a nightmare and i tend to just replace them from the scrappy. interestingly enough i have found electric sunroofs dont give as many problems.i think a lot comes from the jerky movement when you open it by hand v the smooth electric movement.

if you get ti all loosened up make sure you open it once a week or so especially in the winter as they tend to get left for months

my sunroof is shagged but thats because the rubber seal catches on the roof, it leaks in really heavy rain but i live with it, and afterall it is a fiat, cant expect the italians to get everything right

Mine doesn't work at all.. Did work for about 2 months this summer but once it started to rain it stopped working again. Could have been worse - could have stopped working while i had it slid all the way back!

may be the cables are out a click or so.if you hold the button does it go to a home position but in the wrong position?if you get what i mean?
