Heater fan blows fuse on position 3

Picked it up, no fan when knob was rotated. Opened fuses to find a blown 30A fuse where a 20 should be. Popped in a 20A, fan worked for a few seconds, but when I turned it up to top speed the fuse blew. Noticed a ticking sound when the fan was on. Possible something stuck, and impeding the fan? How hard is is it to change the fan motor? :bang:

very easy..mine was knackered..case of 3-4 screws under glovebox...2 connections ...job done

:yeahthat:

Mine has 1 screw holding a small metal plate. You take that off and twist the fan housing anticlockwise. Unplug the 2 wire connector. The motor can then be removed. I had a similar problem with the fuse blowing on speed 4. Cleaned out the leaves and debris then soaked the armeture in silicone lube spray - available from Halfrauds. Then ran it on a 12v adapter to make sure it was running quietly - Then sprayed some more silicone lube into the armeture. I believe there is a small metal clip on the fan which acts like a balencing weight? Make sure it is well clipped on if you have one. Popped it back in and has been silent since and no popped fuses.

Thanks gents - some meths and an old toothbrush on the commutator did the trick - it was very mucky.
