Morning all, I've just bought a 1994 Tipo for £200, its my first fiat & regardless of what ends up being/going wrong with it I'm determined to make this little beauty work. Did run fine but already finding battery isn't holding its charge! Nice. Anyway is this going to be the place to come for advice & help or is there better sections on the forum to post for that kind of thing? Any assistance gratefully received. Thanks

Hi Charlie, yea it seems like it'll be a great car once this battery issues sorted, hopefully just needs a good run out. It's a 1.4 i.e petrol. I didn't know that about the uno/tempra. Useful info thanks, what do you drive just out of nosey interest?

Hi,
I've had lots of FIAT's , but currently have an '04 panda - 7 years owned

and a Punto TwinAir - 6 months owned = NEW,

the 1.4 tipo is fine , BUT it's a big heavy shell - so to make it move - they geared it LOW - so economy isn't fantastic..,
nice to drive though..!!,

Charlie - Oxford

How old is the battery?

BTW, congratulations. Tipo 1.4 i.e. is enormously cleverly designed, yet very underestimated piece of engineering. I just LOVED the car. Extremely practical, easy to maintain and repair, spares for half of nothing...
The fuel economy was very rational (average 6,5-7 l/100 km, heavier in winter town, up to 10 l/100 km with cold engine and stop-and-go "shopping" mode).

Unfortunately, rust never sleeps
