Hi everyone Im Margaux and own a Punto mk1 td70. I know its not a tipo but I tried to browse on the punto forum and they all talk about mk2 jtd when it comes to diesel. The 1.7 TD is a common engine in tipos so please try and help

My problem - I have gas coming out of the oil filler cap when I open it. It does not have any colour, the car does not overheat and only 55,000 miles on the the clock. Initially I thought it could be blow by gases but I hope they are not. could this be breather problems or just normal??:worship::worship::worship: thanks in advance for any help

Best to check all the breather tubes for blockages, but as you say, could be blowing past the valve seals.

Check the main crankcase beather pipe. In one end of the pipe inserted inside the hose is a flame trap. This is usually a mesh wire coil plug that you can pull out to clean. It could be that this is block with oil emulsion.
