Hi there all Tipo owners.

I'm new to forums so go easy on me:D

I thought I would just introduce myself and my current project as I will probably need help in the future.

My name is Paul, I'm 19 years old, I live in New Zealand and I'm a mechanic student. I've been a Tipo fan ever since I got one as my first car at 15. I've had my fair share of other brands but I just can't seem to detach from Fiats. Anyway enough about me

My project is on a '90 Tipo DGT 1.6 which is the most common model here in NZ and this is the also the first project of my own.
I'm doing the V6 engine swap from an Alfa 155 which I have just started and all is going well so far. I haven't heard much about people doing this and haven't found many others on the net but have gone ahead with it anyway. Hopefully some of you may have some advice for this project

I will upload photos as soon as I find out how:eek:

Hi there!

I've seen one other 155 v6 swap but I'm not sure it reached maturity. Most people go for the easier coupe 2.0 16vT or lancia sourced turbo 2.0

To upload photos... you need to go to the gallery or attach them direct on the forum.

You might need a few more posts before you can do this.

Direct attachment - Click 'full editor' then click on the

Yea I think I know which V6 swap you mean. I love the 16vT and Lancia turbo swaps but I decided on the V6 just to be different. I know the performance won't be as great as some of the Tipos on here but it's something

Thanks for the upload advice too

By the way I'm a big fan of your car. I think it's awesome

Thanks for that - the milkbottle hasn't been out in a while but I checked in on her this week and she still looks great under the fine layer of dust. On the plan for this year is to get her back on the road.

Looking forward to any photos or updates on your v6. You'll need a new boot title - VENTIQUATTROVALVOLE

Yea I can't wait to see it up and running. I get so jealous of the 2 doors haha. I thought about a Sedici for my project but I reckon it would be a crime to spoil one with a V6 plus theres only about 7 in NZ. I'll get on to photos as soon as I get my 5th post haha.
VENTIQUATTROVALVOLE, Yes definitely, no doubt, it sounds awesome but um what does it mean exactly?

Here's just some pics I found on my computer.

Thank you so much for that link font! Greatly appreciated. Only one problem though, it's a 12v I got not the (way better) 24v. So is it DODICIVALVOLE? Doesn't sound as cool but easier to pronounce

Hi best of luck with this. Be sure to take all the suspension from the alfa as it is wider than the tipo inc the steering rack and hubs, this will ensure you dont get issues with the drive shafts. Is the alfa a rod linkage on the gearbox?

The rear arms will be wider and I bet th rear ARB is thicker too, I'd swap the sub frame complete with brakes.

Rob you're right just looked on the pic - take the centre section on which the gear lever rests. Interesting to see the alfa also has the rod linkage pivot on the steering rack.

Hey there Rich. Thanks for the support. I've already swaped both front and rear subframes and suspension, gear shifter and steering rack. Yep the ARB on the rear was thicker and it also has what looks like some sort of proportioning valve for the rear brakes connected to it. The front subframe has tabs for the shifter setup to bolt on to and my old one didn't. I too thought it was strange to see the rod linkage pivot on the alfa steering rack. I think it might not be the original or something. I will try to get some more recent pics up.

At the moment I'm sorting out wiring. The loom is HUGE and it's all one piece haha. I'm also transfering the ABS. Its good to see that the ECU already has a place to bolt in though.

Do any of you guys have any tips for uploading photos? I've almost reached my limit and I've only uploaded like 10 photos haha. I guess I should just make them all smaller.

You can post them directly on here, click the paperclip button (next to the smiley face button) above the `writing in box` when your typing in your next message & the box for uploading will come up

The rod shifter pivot on the rack is probably either a design oversight, the car was to be rod shifter but the design was changed to cable. Or the same rack is used on another model which does use rod shifters (maybe lower spec, or another Fiat/Lancia/Alfa model).

Not that unusual, I've seen plenty of blind bolt holes and unused loom connectors on Fiats.

Yea the rack looks exactly the same as the old Tipo one but it just doesn't travel as much. I thought it must be like that for reason (wider wheel clearance??) so I installed it anyway
