Fan stopped cutting in and she started getting a bit hot so checked lower rad hose - cold. Top hose hot so thermostat was stuck.

Removed stat and was going to smack it thru - always open but decided to buy new.

Local Motorfactors "never made a 16v teeepo mate, not on the system mate, oh j plate - didnt know they made em after 1990 mate - 15 mins later after many books ermmm - ere we go - 16 v tipo oh must be a import mate, anyway ooooooooh thats interesting

£95 plus vat mate - 3 - 4 days wait deposit now please.

Called lloyds and another 20 minute phone call lots of shuffling, errms and ahhhhhhs and hmmmmmmms later apparantly its £7.50.

I had a major issue obtaining this part last year - I nearly had to scrap the car! My post is below just in case the info in it is useful - the photos have now been deleted but th thermostat looked like an artificial heart and most definitely couldn't be obtained by regular British motor factors, including the Halford-Half-Wits. Ultimately I paid about £250 is I recall to get this problem fixed. Next time, it will be a Fiat Coupe engine, I'm afraid

got 20vt cat d sitting here to donate everything when i have time :D

Got to alfa garage by train to find they had got the wrong one in :cry:
some piddly little thing - off a 1.4 i think and i gave them vin too ?? wtf. .

Anyway i asked my dad 4 days ago if he had a old one - er - no its thrown. . .

Asked again today and after some rummaging he found one! result - all on - just finished, made gasket out of card and grease - bled system and its running fine, fan cuts in/out both hoses get hot and hot air thru blower :slayer:

good times - thank god it didnt die last week when i drove to paris and round the arc de triumph, chanse elise etc in baking hot traffic - that would have been interesting ha ha ha :worship:
