The rear wiper on my 1992 Tipo does not work. I have changed the wiper motor, the fuse and the wiring seems to be ok. Don't suppose anyone else has had this problem and have solved it?

Thanks for your time and help!

I am told that the Tipo rear wiper motor fails because the shaft seizes. I suggest you test the motor carefully by hooking it up to a battery - maybe your replacement is faulty?

A friend's Tipo has a similar impossible-to-solve rear wiper - fuse is OK, power seems to get through cabling (we fixed broken wires near tailgate hinge - no difference) and motor seems to be OK. It just doesn't work, and no we have not solved it!

Oh right. What an odd situation! :bang: So you still havent managed to repair your friends rear wiper?! I am guessing it could be down to the switch arm on the steering column? I will give the motor a test, and try not to blow myself up! :D

does anyone know if there is a common fault in tipo's which stops the rear wiper from working, mine hasn't worked since i got the car last year and have heard of lots of people failing to fix it, i dont wanna start changing things unless i can be confidant it will sort it.

If anyone knows what could be causing it i would be happy as there seem to be alot of people with the same problem.

Ha common fault? Mines in the minority cause it works (well most of the time)!

Would reccomend checking that the motor has power first - multimeter across the contacts.
Then free motor from gearbox if possible and see if it can move.

Never underestimate the power of silicone spray lubricant.

i thought this was common knowledge.these motors stop working for fun.run the motor direct off the battery to check it.then tackle the wiring if all is well with the motor.i cannot believe you cannot get a rear wiper going!! on the wiring, check contiuity[spelling] along the wiring.check the switch.the wires tend to break along the length.check around the tailgate area with hatch open and closed.i would tend to replace wiring which you know is good. ok my attempts to fix it resulted in it being totally screwed,

fyi it was yhe shaft that had seized, bloody pile of crap

Anyway now that the one i had is a write off i am after another, anyone know where i can get one from or does anyone have one they are willing to sell,

please people i am desperate now, i have a big hole in my tailgate

just got a quote for a new one and its 88 notes :bang: :bang: :bang:
