well this thread should hopefully add a bit more activity to this section.
it's just to cover small jobs that you have done on your tipo. this can include anything no matter how small such as just cleaning it or replacing spark plugs etc. this is for items that don't require their own thread etc.

this is a discussion thread too. so comments can be made as long as it's not completely off topic.

i'll start.

today i got hold of some carb cleaner and was going to have a look at the idle air valve but decided to take a look at the throttle body first. it was filthy so i decided to give it a gentle wipe with a cloth, and plenty of spray.

but it was a bitch to put back on:eek: so after lots of swearing i managed to ease it back on with the help of my dad. got it up to temperature and after a bit of initial smoke it calmed down and no sign of an uneven idle.

just need to tax it and take it out for a good run now though.

It's a HE.

My hatch lock solenoid exploded. Fiat don't have any. Got one off a Tipo in Bradford plus a bonus - 4 x original trims. Sadly I believe this was Greenbriggs defunct old Tipo - looking smart in metallic red, but not long left to live.

Quickly fitted and c/locking now works.

Now then, a white Tipo, no black door mouldings , 5 doors, deep headlights, but with a Mk2 type grill. That will be one good looking combination you have there.

i'm assuming you're talking about my sedici! it's not a mk2 grill, it's the sedici grill! (though i think the mk2 sedicis use the standard grill) it has the black door mouldings? though i'm not quite sure what you mean by that? also it's got the right number of doors ;)(y)

Well... since getting back on the road I've not really done anything for the Milkbottle.

I've still got door rubbers to fit, lower arms and drop links. Need to get hold of some track rod ends and put her into the garage to have a new gearstick fitted - all of this can wait until after holiday so she's going back to her garage to have a little sleep.

Then it's all out to have her ready for the Practical Performance Magazine track day.

Just re-fitted the exhaust after having a second silencer added to make it track day friendly - got told off at silverstone. Pipercross air box has self destructed and needs to be replaced - very tense waiting for my reverie air box now which will need the coil packs moving - again! Also found why you cant use nitrile hose for brake fluid so that has to be replaced and the brake system bled. Fitted the second seat, fixed drivers window, and degreased the underneath of the engine again. Total spend this month on bits alone a little over £600, so no whining from you lot...
Heres a pic from 4 wks ago...just for you

soldered in wiring harness for radio. everything works. but need to sort out an aerial! tempted to drill a hole in the existing aerial bit, and get a screw in aerial! is it normal to have an aerial which appears to have two clips to allow it to adjust and then it appears to just have a bit in the middle in contact with the metal? looks a bit like a snail shell if that makes any sense?

mopped up the water in the boot again. at the weekend i'm going to try and work out where the leak is coming from. need to sort out the heater, as mentioned in my other thread, still no idea looks like a full drain, wash through and refill though:( but nothing too big i suppose. My dads taken the wing mirror into work to get someone to spray it white:slayer: and hopefully that'll give me a bit of paint for small touch ups.

done a cambelt, tensioner, and water pump ,swapped the cams and painted the rocker cover and fitted it,next step, get the engine and subframe in the car and get an intercooler!

well apart from selling my white one (to besbie) and my red one it now only leaves me it my new 3 door turbo tipo. but unfotunately i havent been able to do anything as been in hospital all week waiting for an operation on my broken thumb (had to get in pinned) :(. Thats not the worse bit the part that is hurting me most is im not allowed to drive for upto 4 weeks :bang::mad:

ouch! not just the broken thumb too!

has the heater in my car been disconnected? or is it just in need of a flush or something? did it ever work when you had it?

Yeah it hurt alot.lol the heater never worked when i got the car i couldnt understand why either but also never had the time or the funds to find out properly im afraid.

it has been disconnected. i gingerly took the pipe off the matrix and it was completely empty. blew through the pipe and it was obvious it's not connected to anything. i can only imagine the heater matrix leaks as that's the only reason i can think of that someone would disconnect it, so i'm going to have to take it out and check it for leaks before attempting to reconnect the hoses in the engine bay, though god knows how i can get to behind the engine to reconnect them! hmmmm.

attached the garden hose to the water inlet in the engine bay. discovered that it is the tap that leaks. £12 for a new tap apparently. so i shall plan to do that this week. check it has solved the problem again with the help of the garden tap then reconnect it if i have no problems! i think my old tipo had a leaking tap as the passenger floor at the front was 'orrible. still need to locate the leak in the boot though:( which is proving elusive but i'm determined to have it sorted before the car gets back on the road lol.

Sorry to hear about the boot still leaking i thought i had already sorted it out by treating the rust and getting the wheel arch welded:confused: as for the heater as i already said never got around to that but when i had the car its was mainly in the summer so had no need for the heater to be on.lol

This week after a great trackday

2 new slicks, 2 semi used slicks, 2 wheel bearings, 2 cv boots, blled water system agian, new oil filler cap, more front camber and align. 4x re-ground front dics new set warped in one race darn

It's a HE.

all cars are girls, they cost you a fortune, they can get you mad enough to punch a wall and they only look good when they have got there slap on (polish) lol

i was unsure about whether to have it as a He/She. the tipo is quite a manly car but as jonboy says all cars are girls. it'd seem the tipo is just a rather butch one though lol!

hello to everyone from Ireland
just joined up
ive recently dragged my old 94 Tipo out of the field at the back of my mothers house for my 16 year old son.(first car). its been in the family since 96. Pumped up the 4 tyres, put in a battery, first tip and away she goes. She is 1.4ie 139k.I gave it a full service including timing kit, pads, shoes, cylinders, and brake hoses all round. What i would like to know is, am i missing out on anything specific to the Tipo that should be checked out.PS its been idle 4 years.
