Hi First time post, have searched through other posts...there's some simlar questions but....

1990 Tipo DGT, 1600, has been running fine until last night. Car starts fine and revs fine, but if I drop the revs below about 1200rpm, the car stalls (e.g when changing down, or if I start the car and try to idle)

Have wound up the idle adjuster a bit, so now it idles at about 1100, but it's a rough idle, and it sounds like there a bit of back firing when throttling off.

Any ideas or what I could expect to have fixed...? Maybe dismantle the carb and clean?

Thanks.

Also - forgot to add that the Tipo now has trouble turning the engine off, it coughs and splutter for about 5 or 10 seconds...

hmmm get a can of carb cleaner. run the engine and carefully spray it around the base of the carb (watch out as it's flammable and the exhaust manifolds are there too) does that cause the engine to rev? could be the base plate rubber has perished.

Besbie, you're a champion.

Tried what you said...did not change the revs, so I covered the carb outside and inside, wound the idel adjuster back down...and it looks like the Tipo is sorted.

So thanks for your help, and the lesson!

Nick
