hello all, I will be trying to restore the Tipo Mk1 16v that Andy had been trying to shift off his driveway...

https://www.fiatforum.com/blogs/big-red-tipo-16v-project/

I'll be needing plenty of advice in the coming month or so... so please give generously. :)

I'll try and get some better pics some time soon to help show the issues with the car...

Cheers

Tony

well the first priority is to find the edge of the rust and work to make good... I have done my time with cars that need rust to get MOT's done... I don't intend to float another if I can avoid it.

So first find out if it's worth getting the engine running at all. When starting any project that has wheels I use the basic . 1). does it stop? 2). does it go? 3). does continue to do both of the previous items in that order...

however these rules don't cover the... can you see the road through the floor while driving? So I'm going to have to postpone bending the valves for a while.

ok here's an open request for knowledge from those with it.

questions

here are the first few in a great many of questions... any information gratefully received.

I often thank goodness I live in Spain and after seeing those pics I did so again!!!

My 1990 Tipo looks new by comparison, with no traces of rust anywhere.

Even my two old Beetles haven't rusted since we brought them over in 90.

Sorry, unable to help with any of your queries!:(

yeah thanks for that... glad you dropped by.
I also have other cars without rust... however i'm not asking about those.

If by chance you meet someone who knows anything about 16V tipos send them to the forum, where they can delight me with tales of holidays and such.

i'm just jealous by the way.
