Hi there can anyone advise me on a fiat tipo diesel i did have a tipo before but it was a petrol, i really loved the car but i have been told by a friend that I should'nt touch the diesel as they make alot of noise just wondering if anyone has had any good or bad expieriances with this kind of model its a M reg.

Your advise would be grately appriciated.

Thnaks Fiona:) :) :)

Hi Fiona.

I used to have a 1.9 TD SX - L reg.

Granted yes they can be a bit tractor like when they're cold, but they soon drop to a very acceptable volume. On dual carriageways etc they're much quieter than a petrol as their RPM will be lower. Make sure you get a turbo model as they're both quicker and use less fuel. Air is cheaper than fuel ;)

I don't know what your budget is like but if you can - consider a Bravo/Brava TD or JTD as they are very much like a Tipo, with the chance to get a much newer one!

Have you got your eye on one or are you looking? Expect to pick one up for a couple of hundred pounds, but cost in some work like replacing suspension parts and maybe having timing belts replaced.

Thanks for the advice, i did have a petrol one but i am a bit dubious about getting a diesel as the only one i have ever expireinced was a diesel ford escort and that was blinking horrible till it warmed up, i will go have a look i think, but i might just go for a petrol instead. thanks all.

Woah! Woah! Nooo! Stop!

You're not going to base an opinion on a Fiat Diesel after driving a Ford are you?

Fiat have always been at the very cutting edge of diesel technology. Common rail diesels? Fiat invented them in partnership with Bosch. Multi-jet? Fiat and bosch again.

Have a drive of a Tipo TD SX and you'll agree it's nothing like a Ford.

My old TD was quick for a diesel. Would wind up to around 118mph, and its midrange power was excellent. It cruised on the Motorway easily and in reasonable comfort and noise. Compared to a Ford escort, it was light years away!!

This is no ordinary diesel.

This is a 100bhp, boy-racer eating, motorway crusing Fiat diesel...

Plus the pre-moulded foam squab seats and shiny plastic everywhere on the escort.
And those horrid short multi stalks on the steering column! And the crashing suspension that could not cope with a normal road, never mind our pothole ridden roads now.
