Hi all...my Tipo was due it’s 18000 mile service and I as my nearest dealer was 30 mile away I was unable to travel due to the lockdown travel restrictions (non essential travel etc),:thumb I contacted Fiat customer services and they told me no problem they will give a months grace on the warranty so long as car is booked in for the service. If restrictions continue after the month to contact them again. Thought this info might be useful to anyone in the same situation .(y)

Car maintenance, which serving is, is safety related, just like an MOT, and deemed essential travel from what I can see.

I’d just get it booked on, garages are still open, or use a local independent and get them to use OEM parts. As long as they’re VAT registered you’ll maintain your warranty and likely save a few £££ also (y)

Trouble is Police down here are pretty hot on checking cars travelling around out of area.Lots have been stopped for non local travel. Some forums I’ve seen have been saying servicing is non essential if it’s not for an emergency fault etc.

It’s a matter of safety, so essential, just like MOTs (y)

If an officer states differently and wants to issue a ticket then ask them to put in writing there and then that your car is safe to drive ;)

I was told something different when I asked and they were absolute about 1 month and not a second longer, so I would recommend you ask for an email confirmation. They are not in my experience renown for honesty and straightforwardness.

The woman that phoned me was very helpful and said it wasn’t an issue, she had all my details and just needed my postcode to check distance from the main dealer. She even knew the name of the service manager at the dealer which she asked me to book the service in with. Which I did in a months time. Hopefully I will have no problems.

This is on the Fiat site.

She said it’s all noted on their computer.....When they phoned I didn’t know anything about a number. I previously emailed them about not being able to travel the distance to the main dealer and they phoned me a day later.
