Hi

Front passenger window stuck down, I took off the door card, the window regulator has failed, checked the motor factors, main dealer part only, £142 + vat, what a joke, I've never had this part fail on a vehicle and it's a common fault from what I have read, let's hope another doesn't fail cause it's not a cheap or convenient fix............

Cheers!

I have also had success with ebay repair kit for Skoda Octavia rear elec window regulator.
Bmw mini front window regulator pattern part that you swop old motor too is not up to the job so got a used genuine part via ebay.

The kits that just include new bowden cables are very good value but you have to know what you are doing to fit them and still be careful and methodical.

£140 for the window regulator if it includes a new electric motor from main dealer does not appear crazy to me. There are a lot of other parts with a much greater mark up.

And yes they do fail on all sorts of different manufactures cars.
Vw Audi seat Skoda bmw mini first to spring to mind

My nearside front window regulator failed recently. Luckily I managed to close the window, bit by bit by pressing the up button for 1-2 seconds, then moving the window up by hand a few millimetres at a time until it closed, then I used some strong tape along the bottom to keep the window in place. Just had the window regulator replaced by an independent garage who had to order the part from a main dealer.
