Hi all,

Picked up my 2017 Tipo M-Jet Lounge a couple weeks ago and am loving it so far!

I wanted to ask if anyone has replaced the radio unit? I have a pioneer screen with car-play which I would like to fit into the Tipo - but my question is will it work given all the settings in the factory unit?

I am fine loosing the reversing camera (although I believe there are adapters available for that) but would not want to loose any other features...

Thanks!

Is the UK Lounge the non-tablet type?

I have replaced the radio with a form fit android unit shipped from germany and have had no problems. Readymade wire harness and also has video in.
Only thing I see not working is the radio station display on dashboard centre screen, but who really uses it.

Yes it’s the non-tablet type. I did see the made-for-tipo units but wasn’t sure if there was specific software on them - never know with modern cars. I already have the pioneer unit so wouldn’t want to buy another radio. I’ll give it a bash anyway and report back

Out of curiosity- can you change any car settings on your unit like the collision assist?

You'd need a unit with specific Tipo coding to be able to change the settings

I don't have those features as it is base model but it can read the A/B trip and fuel economy so it has some software. Only opened once as those are available easier in the centre display.
Also the milage display kept blinking until the radio was configured to be "high model" unit. I think it is the graphic vs segmented dash display difference so it emulates the correct radio for CAN.

Fun thing also is that the basemodel does only give door open warning light where the android radio call tell which door/boot is open.

Such as time

My factory radio was the crappiest, not even bluetooth music profile, only hands free. It had no settings I could change for the car as far as I know.

Went to the car settings and it has settings for the collision stuff, rain sensitive wipers, reverse camera, auto headlight sensitivity and so on, but most are locked for me as I have none of those supported by the car.

Do you have a link to the radio mate?

Update on this topic...

Connects2 does not support Fiat Tipo modles with Navigation, they only support non-nav vehicles. So anyone looking to use an aftermarket radio (not specifically made for Tipo) with a Lounge model is out of luck...

Quite annoyed I purchased this car now - stuck with the factory unit without apple carplay!

Does this mean that the unit works and you lose satnav or it's completely incompatible ?

It’s completely incompatible. They only manufacture harness adapters for the non-nav models. Apparently the navigation models use a different system (I’m assuming a different canbus)
