I finally managed to pick up my Tipo yesterday after waiting anxiously for over a month but unfortunately I was bit gutted to have noticed that it’s had a replacement windscreen at some point.

Anyway, it looks as though the windscreen fitter has used the same rubber seal when fitting the new screen instead of a replacement one and it looks rather tacky in places from where it’s been reused. I’m just wondering if this is something that can be replaced with the windscreen left in or whether it needs taken out again?

Ps: don’t suppose anyone has the part number for a new seal?

Cheers :)

Hi, Chris.

That’s the part I’m talking about, yes.

I think it’s more a cosmetic thing than anything. As you say, it’s a bonded windscreen so it’s not as though it serves a purpose, just annoying to look at more than anything.

Good point there, Chris.

I think I’ll pop it down to my local windscreen fitter once we get out of this lockdown stage and see what they suggest, if they say it’ll need removing to be replaced I’ll just live with it as it’s not worth the risk of it potentially leaking etc.

It’s me being fussy in all honesty, I just find it annoying that they’ve refit old stuff on a less than 3 year old car.

Well, I like to update my threads incase others ever encounter the same problem.

My issue has now been sorted by replacing the windscreen with a genuine part from Mopar. It turns out the surround is actually built onto the back of the windscreen and isn’t a separate part.

The surround (rubber trim) now sits exactly as it should. It could have been sorted on insurance but I didn’t want to go down the route as 1) I’ve never had to claim for anything before and I’d like to keep it that way & 2) it’s VERY unlikely they’d have used genuine parts which was a must for me. Thankfully, the dealer I bought the car from agreed to cover the cost and I’m glad it’s all sorted.
