My tipo makes clunking (metallic) noises when going over bumps at low speeds as well uneven surfaces. Any suggestions as to what this could be? If this is the anti roll bar, can a anti roll bar be purchased from a different sized engine Tipo to my 1.6 estate?

Droplinks ?? Cheap and easy. :)

Try and aim it at small speed humps .. so it is smooth on one side of car.. and the other side tides the bump..

If you narrow it down to 1 corner of car it will help. ;)

Could be a lot of things..

Sure its not the exhaust..?

Idea.

When its cold.. grab hold of exheaust.. give it a wriggle : shake

Any metallic thumps?

You can also bounce on each corner of car..
Listening for noise

Good luck.. let us know what you find

One of our tipos started to do this, turns out our rear shock absorbers were leaking fluid, not working at optimal performance - a right pain as we are only a month out of warranty and it wasn't picked up on MOT or service.

So, is this a typical Tipo problem?

My 2.5 year old Tipo has just started making a similar noise now. Only driven 26,000KM (about 16,000 miles). So I'm disappointed in this. I don't drive up hard over anything either.

Its because of poorly made shock absorbers. I replaced stabilizer links and still can hear the noises described in this post while accelerating, going over bumps, etc ...

FIAT is actually manufacturing these shock absorbers by themselves in Turkey instead of buying ones..

Well maybe not once again parts I've ordered for this thing arett available for at least a month maybe longer
What the hell are manufacturers doing? Guess there's not much love for the tipo among them

on my old tipo 1,4 120 easy plus petrol on the first mot the rear shocks needed replacing this seems to be a recurrent problem with the tipo, my diesel 1.6 has just passed its second mot so far so good

Check for cracked springs. I've had two front nearside bust inside 12 months. Tinkling noise where the broken ends rub against one another

Drop links, I’ve changed both twice in less than 3 years ownership. I think the design must be poor as I used good quality replacements.
