I have a 68 94hp tipo lounge and the air con/climate control has become very noisy. It can be heard over the engine and goes off when switched off. Dealer has changed air con compressor but noise remains. Dealer now saying noise is normal on tipo. No problems on previous Fiats with climate control. Any ideas.....!!!!

I have a 120hp petrol 2019 lounge and my climate control isn’t what I’d call quiet but it is louder than my previous 500X .

I had a 500x and air con was very quiet
It is a whining noise when decelerating
Where is the cabin filter and how can I change it?

He tipo has the same basic under pinnings as a punto and as a Vauxhall corsa and Vauxhall Adam all of which use the same heater box, therefore this video covering the punto should be of some help.

Take out the filter, if it’s less noisy then you know you need a new filter.

It will be fine to drive a few miles with the filter removed.

Thanks for video. Will change filter to see if it is the problem. The noise on climate control was not there when car was new but has increased iver time. It maybe filter is dirty so changing filter is required.

How did you get on Ian. Was it the Tipo pollen filter and if so, where was it?

It's behind the glovebox have to lower it down fully to see the plate that covers it
Open box pip out the black stopers on each side of the box then there a small peg the holds string to limit travel and slow opening it's on the right hand side of the box near the middle area hard to see
Then when it's open fulley down you should see the plate that covers it has two screws to hold it in place they are a huge pain to remove due to limited space

If you mean the two screws in the centre of the pollen filter cover, they don't need to be removed, they're for the fan housing,i thought the same !

Checked pollen filter behind centre consol and it is still clean. Took car back to dealer and after a bit of a "stand off" they replaced the a/c compressor. It made no difference and deaker told me the noise was normal. After a few weeks the noise was gettig worse ( wasn't there when car was new) so went back to dealer, spoke to a different chap and he agreed there was a problem and suggested the compressor fitted was faulty and would replace it again. Will post results

Tipo booked on Monday. Not confident it will be fixed as they have had one try allready. Will post results when work completed

Had my Tipo back to dealer to get another aircon compressor fitted. It is much quieter now and working ok.
