Technical Apole car play and android auto

I bought a new fiat tipo about a year ago. The car is very well equipped, but the model I bought does not have a car play. I spoke with a Fiat operator to get information but when I asked him 2 questions I realized that he was reading a script. My question is: Is it possible to install car play in a car that does not have it as standard?

It doesn't usually seem possible to retrofit Apple CarPlay or Android Auto onto any of Fiat's UConnect systems, but if you have the 7" screen then I'm guessing something might be possible as (in the UK at least) all versions of this screen have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

If you have the 5" screen which most Tipo's had until recently then it won't be possible as I don't believe this version is available with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, even when new.

I have the 7 "screen and all the connectivity extras. I think the only thing the car lacks is the software. I have installed Uconnect 6. How could I install a firmware update on my own? Thank you!!

If you have the UConnect 7" head unit, and it doesn't have Apple CarPlay, then it probably isn't available in your country.

Hello and sorry for reactivating a old thread.

If you have a Tipo (2015 onward) with the 7" uConnect system then you can have Android Auto / Apple CarPlay, it just needs enabling on your car.

You need updated firmware and to make a PROXI modification to your car.

I have included a pdf with all the instructions and a link to the firmwares needed to do it.
