Hi everyone
Does anyone own a 1.4 t jet engine (petrol) Tipo? Just wonder what they thought of the performance.
Thanks

I've owned a t-jet sw for the last six months and previously owned a Grande Punto T-jet for 9 years. Performance isn't much different between the two. Both perform similar to an 80s hot hatch so probably quick enough for today's roads!

I've just test driven one of these today..

To me it seemed underpowered and a bit gutless. I'm used to driving turbo cars you can feel boost on the tipo didn't really seem to have a turbo. Revved lots but couldn't really feel a sweet spot in the rev range. Not for me.

The handling left a lot to be desired too felt like if you chucked it round a bend to hard the back wheel would fold under the car. This was the estate version though.

Just bought one of these, 1.4 t-jet 5 door hatch. Engine to me seems good, acceleration isn't blistering but it's a family car more than anything. Put your foot down in 2/3/4 and at around 2.5-3.5 rpm it will pull you into your seat nicely, so overtaking is pretty easy and stress free. I've owned much quicker cars that didn't have that pull, even test drove an Astra sri turbo which again didn't feel as quick (but obviously the stats say otherwise).

Like I said. Quick enough for today's roads and general driving. No race car but definitely not anywhere near gutless!

I have just ordered a new Tipo Lounge with this engine (will be a 69 plate (UK)), I already own (well the wife does) a 66 plate with the 95hp engine. This is my "family car" moving on from a long history of 500 based cars.

I test drove both the Tipo 120HP and the Alfa Guiletta and both drove very similar (when Guiletta was set to normal mode) - the engines are very similar (if not the same?) but obviously, the tuning is slightly different on the Alfa.

It can more than handle itself in any road condition.
