I just aquired a beater x1/9 and would love to get her running but my ignition switch is fubar. I know the red and bown wires can be connected to use the starter but what about the others. I'm not getting any interior funtion. All fuses are ok. What are the names/colors of the other wires (ie. BLK=Ground)??? Anyone know where to find a new switch??

Thanks,

I'd recommend International Auto Parts 1-800-726-0555 www.international-auto.com.
They list a switch in their catalog.
The Haynes X1/9 book shows coming out of the ignition switch; nero- black, marrone- brown, azzurro-nero - light blue and black and rosso-red. This is supposed to be for the North American model years '74 - 77 but in real life the wiring seems to vary year to year
even if the previous owner didn't change anything.
If you plan to do any work I'd recommend the Haynes book over any out there.

Most Fiats of that vintage use the same column mounted ignition switch. A 128, 127 and 131 s mirafiori ignition switches are all alike and interchange with the X19. Finding a replacement should be simple.

Why do you think you switch is FUBAR?

good online wiring diagrams at www.xonenine.com , and via seattle x19 Xweb

How do you remove the igntion switch?
I acquired a X 19 without a key. The local lock smith thinks he may be able to re-key the ignition. Would it be easier to somehow unlock the steering and put a push button start or after market switch in the car??
