we all know thats Fiats most recent new car, the Grande Punto will sell in the zillions & most people love the thing. However what about Fiats other new car, the Croma? I'm just trying to gauge reaction to it, as on the figures i've got so far for its sales, its gonna stuggle, although the low sales figures could have something to do with the lack of fleet sales at this time of year!?

What do you think, IF you were in the market for a Passat, 407, Laguna, Mondeo etc... would you choose, or even consider a Croma??

(by the way, i would)

Think thats a slight overstatement, has fiat ever sold any car by that amount????

Well im going to go against inevitable flow and say im not overly keen on the Croma, and think if i had to get a biggish car like that id be much more tempted by something like an alfa 156

I have had a grovel around the Croma, and to be honest I wasn't impressed (n)

I was hoping it would be a comfy beast for a 6'4" 16-stone chappie like me but it felt a touch claustraphobic. It wasn't helped by nasty velour seats either :yuck:

Sorry, I wanted to like it but I came away underwhelmed.

Have you seen what they're charging for them? I'd rather go with an Alfa 156/159 for the money.

My father in law is thinking about getting an Audi A3 5dr, but when he found out the new prices this week was a little put off. I'd said to look at the Croma, and they're not an awful lot less. Mind you, I guess if my Fiat dealer could do £2k off a new Stilo when I considered one (albeit very briefly) in March, they might be able to get a loaded Croma down to a reasonable price.

What it needs is some serious celebs using them. If Fiat gave them to the right kinds of people, they could get seen around. To make best use of that it has to be Italian or at least european celebs residing in the UK.

Punto will sell of course, but pre-regged and at 5-6k for 'brand new' cars. The croma won't sell, for all the reasons above. If I had a house - I would probably bet it on that.

I take it that means they're not cheap then? I think the reviews must have passed me by, what did the press have to say about the croma?

I'd certainly consider it, I'd consider anything. When I buy a car any time now I'll be in the market for something about Croma sized, although a few years old. Nothing starship sized like the Mondeo/Vectra/C5 etc.

Fiat's problem is that even if it's a great car they don't have a reputation for selling big cars so loads of people wouldn't even think to consider it. To get ahead they need a massive advertising campaign. I saw an ad in top gear but nothing on TV or anything...

Punto's have always been popular, I dont't have any figures to back that statement up, I'm purely going on how many of the things are on the roads, and how many people I've known who've had one.

It would've helped if they'd made the Croma good looking. I like a car with a bit of flair, the Croma, dare I say it, is as bland as a Passat. And the majority of the general public would buy a Passat. Besides, how many people have even heard of a Fiat Croma?
