i am wondering would you buy this B knowing it has not be clocking miles for some months? even though it is illegal to drive a car like that??

to me its a bit like buying a car with no mot for full price you would pay for car with mot
what you think?

There is no way that is a dealer conversion.

You would also have to be high to pay more for that than a LHD, just look of the shoddy interior quality.

Guess they put the steering wheel on the wrong side for me now.... so probably not....... I guess with buyuing ant car second hane.. U need to looo at milage and service history.............

I've been told and read that there can be safety issues with the steering on a RHD B conversion unless its done properly which is a bitch to do right. Don't know if its true.

Is it time for specsavers or is there a fairly horrible filler job on the left side where the steering wheel was?

I wouldn't want it...part of the fun of the B is the wheel on the other side..kind of exclusive thing..

take it to dealer and see what mileage is stored on body computer

What computer?

body computer, i assume a b has one as its based on a punto hgt and that has one

'I may be wrong (I usually am) but the B has no electric trickery at all beyond electric windows. Mechanical, old style odometer, no trip computer etc.

The Engine/ECU is the same as an HGT but I think the rest of it was from standard MK1 LHD Punto..

OUCH. Yeah no no no no to RHD conversions. True B lovers know this is wrong. It's like finding out Lady Gaga is a man! OH errr...

They sell for less, structutre issues, double sided sticky tape!!!!!

The B will not record the millage if the odomiter is faulty.

Car to aviod I think.(n)

I would have to agree with everyone.. The conversion when carries out by DTR (?) did not look right to me.. the centre console is still angled towards the left etc... looks weird... the dash looks all wrong etc etc...

this looks soo wrong. :(

Nino, Lady Gaga is a man?????????? I wondered why you never see Prince Phillip and Lady Gaga in the same room at the same time, now it's all become clear. Mind you, he's got good legs.

I understood it was DTR who did a few rhd conversions. Would it be worth asking them if they did it? But what is that mess where the glove box should be?

What are the legal implications of doing this? Does the car then need an SVA check and re-registering? I think this was the main issue when doing the conversions by DTR in the first place. The 'donor' car used for the B was a specific LHD early MkI Punto with major design changes needed to bring it to RHD..even Fiat weren't keen on the expense, hence no official RHD B version.

DTR did seven RHD's I think it said on the website a few years ago. Once I was down at DTR having my B looked at and we got talking about RHD conversions and the reply was the car never felt as good as the LHD original version. The top part of the dash was changed but the centre console has always still faced towards the LHD position.

The Green Barchetta in this thread is not a DTR RHD conversion as I think the DTR conversion had a sun lip over the dials like the original design on the LHD.

I suppose that would depend on the car. If a car, say a classic, was mainly available in RHD and was available at a good price in LHD, then it may be worth converting. Cars that are available in both RH and LHD are obviously much easier to convert. As for the Barchetta, it jusn't seem right. Jusn't means 'just doesnt' and isn't used by adults because they're sad - apparently.:D
