I picked my car up yesterday after the wheels had been refurbed (for free!!) and a new drivers side front tire had been fitted (£120 ). I had also asked them to look at my fogs as they had lots on condensation on the inside of the glass and I believed this should be covered by the warranty. When I arrived to collect the car they said they had been trying to get in touch with me but the number they had on file was about 5 years old (from when I bought my Seicento in 2003) as therefore they could not reach me. The reason they wanted to reach me is because the fogs needed replacing and they weren't covered by the third year warranty (n)

What they decided to do was fit the new ones and add them to my bill. But they did only charge me cost prices and the did not charge for fitting saving me money if I did want them done at some other point.

Would you be pleased you saved money or annoyed they just went ahead and did it.

On balance pleased. U did ask them to "look" at the Fogs, well looking does nothing and condensation is clearly a leaky lamp unit, so they tried to contact u but, it seems, acted on your behalf, to the best of their knowledge, in the manner you may have indicated you would have wanted.

Different if u hadnt mentioned the Fogs tho...

P.S. if u look in the cars book u will see the 3rd year Warranty excludes pretty much everything except catastrophic engine / gearbox and transmission failure.

The only thing that annoys me is that before it went in they said they would sort it under warranty and I only expected them to take them apart and clean them out and put them back in, not replace the whole units.

Don't get me wrong I am conflicted, half of me is happy and half of me is annoyed. the £160 bill for two fogs doesn't help either, I 'd hate to know how much it would have been.

Plus they did refurb and respray my wheels black for free!!! (I got quoted £460 from a local company for the same work) so their not all bad.

Yea as I said "On balance" I would be pleased, cleaning out the lamps, not sure it could be done, and they would mist up again in no time.
Nicer car now than before at pretty low cost for Dealer workshop prices. (y)
