I will be installing some heavy wiring from vehicle battery to an aux battery inside the cab.

I want to keep cable length down, and not have to remove dash if I can get away with it, but can if needed.

Whats the shorest, least time consuming route from the engine compartment to the cab?

take the nearside wheelarch liner off and you will find a nice big juicy gromit into the car where the hindy cator cable goes through
its just a matter of running the cable up the bulkhead to the battery then

for what purpose ? if its just a leisure battery then you don't need to bother with heavy duty wiring?
If it is to provide extra power for cranking then its understandable but a punto isn't exactly big enough to warrant it

Me too. If it's of any size, boot is a better place, surely? And maybe one of those charge splitters the 4 x 4 brigade use?

i took a big power wire from the battery, straight through the gromet in the fire wall directly behind the battery and in under the dash ( takes a bit of fiddling to get it through, angle the wire down.) then just under the kicks and carpet down one side, and under the rear pench. took my about 30 mins.
