Right, been a while since I've been on here! Got abit of an annoying problem at the moment!
The arm from the wiper motor to the wiper keeps falling off on both wipers, it clicks Into the hole, but just falls straight out again when I try and use them, seems like a quick fix but just puzzled on how!! Any help will be appreciated!

The plastic / rubber inserts are worn out so the push fit is too slack.

I've seen mods from insulation tape to cable ties used as bodges but I've also seen replacements advertised on the Internet and some useful advice in the Guides / FAQ section on this Forum for Punto's

I just bought a whole new unit with motor. Its only £62 and you know there wont be problems.

I have seen uprated bushes for sale on ebay but only the once

When mine came off it was only on one. The other had a washer welded on so it couldnt fall off. That was enough for me to just buy a new one complete

Euro car parts. I didnt try fiat as my mate works in euro so i never get problems

You have three options
Get a new assembly from Fiat £££££ last time I checked and will fail again.
Find Wipex and buy the upgraded push on arms - they won't last forever but at £30 is it works and they will replace it if or when it goes again
Take out the assembly and weld or screw on washers and that will be the end of it.

Here's my run-down of solutions:

- DIY fix such as washer and split pin or other.

- Search for 'Punto Wiper Linkage Repair Clip', supposed to be a temporary, 'get-me-home' fix at £5 and useful to keep in the car for emergencies, but some people have reported successful long-term use.

- Wipex linkages (http://www.wiperlinkage.co.uk/). About £25-30 and come with a lifetime guarantee. However, I had a set fail on me after just 30 months, which I attributed to roughness on the ball joints due to corrosion causing premature failure.

- New wiper motor assembly, about £60.

Personally, despite one failure, I've stuck with the Wipex linkages. If they fail again I'll take a very, very fine emery cloth to the ball joints to clean them up a bit. Got to be careful not to make the balls any smaller though.

on my mk2 it happened where the linkage fell off... when i brought it - it was held together with cable ties, so with the cheek of there move, i popped them off - drove back saying the wipers stopped working :)

after that it was fine

Then go an behold - it happened to my beloved mk2b :(

To fix? Drill a hole - stick a bolt through with some spring washers, washers and a nut :)

DONE!
cost me about £8 in bits

i'd go for Wipex linkages normally arrive next day. squash the ends of yours with mole grips before fitting may work for a few days.

the Linkage Repair Clip are ok as a get you home provided its the outer that pops off, i dont see how they would fit at the motor end.

Dont think they would work on the motor as there not fat enough - like what andy has

Unless the clip can JUST fit between the 2 ball joints?
