Hi
I have been finding water in the drivers foot well over the last week or so, I finally figured out its window washer fluid !! I run my hand around under the dashboard but its all dry. Has anyone had this problem ??

Ps The window washer jets are fine and work as normal.

Thanks for your time

Hi
Think the heater works ok, will have a better look tomorrow and see but you could be on 2 something. I hope its not a dashboard out job.

Anyone had a problem like this ?

Hi
You are correct, its fluid from the heating system, the strange thing is the water level needed filling up and it was the best part of 3 - 4 pints. I am sure thats not how much water was in the drivers foot well. I started the car this morning for 15 mins with the heater on full hot and only a few drops fell from the heater unit behind the dashboard !??!

I need the car for work this week so does anyone know if i dont use the heater will i still use up water as i dont want to run out of water while driving. I will call DTR today and see if its bad news. Any info would be most welcome.

It'll be bad news: You'll be needing a new heater matrix, which in a barchetta will be an absolute sod to get to. Check out the eper catalog for the heating system, it site right behind the engine.

Re: coolant fluid in the drivers footwell ??

Hi
Just called DTR, The heater matrix is only £90, stinger is that DTR think it will take 10 hours work as the dash has to come out  Thats £700 bill !!!
Anyone know someone who has the skills to do this job for less ??

Help most wanted !!!

well most matix jobs are a pain. most garages will be able to do it but its unlikely they will have done many barchettas TBH

Hi
I went and got some Bars Leaks from my local Halfords store, so given that a go (fingers crossed) Even if it does work I will have to look into getting the heater matrix done at some point. I will make a few calls and see what people are asking to fix it.

Anyone had the work done ? what was the cost ?

Had the same problem with my Marea a few years ago (2.0 ELX) - came back from holiday and the floor was sodden. I presumed it was the bottle of water that I had left on the floor that had leaked, but after a couple of days realised that that wasn't the problem and in the end the heater matrix turned out to be the answer. As others have suggested, that was a dashboard out job.

I can't recall how much it cost (c. £500 I think) but I was lucky it was covered by the warranty I took out when I bought it (though they did try to wriggle out of paying!).

Update
I have been to Nottingham and Kent this week in my B and i think the Bars Leaks is doing its stuff. Fingers crossed the heater matrix coolant problem is fixed for now.
