Hi gents,

I don't know what is going on here. I've never had problems with my windows. Suddenly, the DS window is click-clacking, stiff and cumbersome to roll up or down. Something with the hand crank. Doe anybody know what is going on?
Thanks!

Often the wire cable and rollers get rusty and seized, they are something that never gets oiled/lubricated as it involves removing the door panel.
The very least I used to do when servicing customers cars was wind the windows down and lubricate the channels at the same time as door locks and hinges, this takes the strain off the winder mechanism.
You may end up replacing the window regulator mechanism, I had to do a rear door one on a daughters Punto Evo she bought recently.

Thanks bugsmike!
Yes, the crank part is sealed and cannot be opened to relubricate.
If I buy a new winder system, is it hard to install?

On the Uno no. You may get away with lubricating the crank bearing, but clacking sounds like worn gear teeth. A bit of silicon spray on the canel rubbers also makes windows move MUCH easier. SOmetimes you can wipe the glass edge if the window moves away from the chanel as it drops. Do both sides to avoid sticking and twisting.

Can't remember about the Uno, but on the Punto Evo, once panel off the hardest bit was releasing the clip from the part that attaches it to the glass.
It was a sort of plastic horse shoe that had to be pulled out then the mechanism is pried away from the glass fixing.
So a mirror and torch may help.
Also whilst waiting for the new mechanism I jammed a piece of wood in to stop the glass falling down and keep the thieves out.:)
