It's quite sad to see that Fiat dealers haven't improved over the years

In the 21 years I've been driving, I've owned 5 different Fiats, 3 of which I bought from franchised dealers. All 3 of those dealerships now no longer exist!

The last one was a Seicento Sporting back in 1998, the dealer was absolutely dreadful and put me off Fiat's for many years, well until now. He blatantly lied about delivery time and when the car did arrive it was missing items, the steering wheel wasn't straight and the clutch pedal kept sticking to the floor, all of which should have been covered by a PDI

I then went over to Renault and have been very impressed by my local Renault dealership, they are not franchised but owned by Renault. Whenever I had a problem they would fix it straightaway under warranty or on one occasion after the warranty had expired (without charge).

My last car was a Smart ForTwo and fortunately was trouble free I avoided taking it to an expensive Mercedes dealership for servicing, instead finding a specialist independant garage who were much cheaper and far more knowledgeable.

I'm now waiting for delivery of my new Panda 100HP and hope I don't have any problems with it

Yelladani you've got the wrong end of the stick.

What I'm suggesting in dealing with your dealer is exactly how I suggest you deal with a hostess who'd forgot your drink. Don't just let it happen and don't just accept it and then whinge about it later, do something about it.

You're just another person who expects people to understand them and give them some slack at work but won't do it for others.

Some Fiat dealers are good and some aren't so good. People talk about dealers losing interest after the cash is handed over, well the guy at Hartwell in Chester had no interest in us before we placed an order. So we just never went back.

I disagree but to change a persons perspective isn't easy. The majority of cars are turned around quickly these days unlike the old days when you had to wait a week(s) for parts with no collect/delivery or courtesy car service for example. Customers rarely have a clue what goes on in the dark recesses of the workshop. I think dealers should hold open days/evenings for customers to come into the workshop to see how servicing/diagnosis is carried out & to have friendly chats with the techs, this will go along way to building up confidence on both sides of the fence

What always amazes me is how many people just put up with a crap service! If you think it's crap, let them know that you're not happy.

Mark did this after his car got damaged when it was being 'repaired' for damage originally done at the dealership. They kept fobbing him off so he covered the car in tape where every little defect was, then parked it outside the showroom. They soon took notice and he got a new car from Fiat.

If people are unhappy, the dealer isn't magically going to know by reading your minds. You're right in saying that it should be good service in the first place but we all know that this isn't always the case and they must be made aware of it whenever possible.

Now it's all kicked off with the trolley dolly....get your own drink? There's customer service, see it's no different with Stalios or Fiat dealers. I know what goes on, I've seen the documentory series Mile High on tv, you should see what the cabin crew get up to!

Hmmm well id like to think British Airways is slightly different to Easyjet or Mile High, they just show what makes good television!

My dealership are fully aware of my gripes with them and have made no effort to correct them so that is why i have had to go to the head office.

I think KLM is better than both of them & that was economy class! Must admit BA give you a newspaper though but KLM rolls were tasty:yum:

Sorry to go off topic by not mentioning my favourite airline

In my experience AC in Dundee can be added to the hopeless list. They didn't fill me with confidence when I bought my Panda, trying to squirm out of fitting roof bars by telling me they had to drill the roof to fit them and it might leak or cause the roof to rust(!). Recently visited same dealer interested in a 500 lounge for Mrs Bee. Knew absolutely nothing about the 500 model range, tried to sell a stock model in a colour and trim that we didn't want and misquoted Fiat finance deals. Salesman and manager patronisingly refused to check the correct figures on the Fiat website because "I was completely mistaken". Went somewhere else (same chain) and this dealer knew about the finance. Job done, just waiting for the car.

Mind you still not as bad as one of my workmates who was refused anything more than a 5 minute test drive in an Astra because the salesman said he didn't want to miss a sale when he was out with him on the test drive.
