Who on the boards works for Fiat/Alfa?

And who would be able to open the boxes of a W reg Punto JTD Clutch and a Alfa 147 16v JTD clutch and compare the size and fixings?

Any ideas how I could try to fit it and return it if it doesnt?

Different part numbers plus I think the 16V JTD Alfa unit is a different engine to the Punto.

Yes and yes. (although same block IIRC, obviously different heads as ones 8v and the other is 16v)

Doesnt mean they wont be interchangable though.

Had a look at the tech specs online-

2000 reg Punto 8v JTD-
Friction plate outer diameter: 228.6mm
Friction plate inner diameter: 155mm

147 16v JTD-
Friction plate outer diameter: 235mm
Friction plate inner diameter: 155mm

Sound's like the Alfa clutch is bigger. I'd have thought you'd therefore need to fit the Alfa flywheel to match.

The other problem is the splines for the gearbox input shaft (are they the same?)- the Alfa 16v has a 6-speed Getrag box, rather than the usual 5-speed (as in all Alfa petrol except V6, and Fiat 1.8 and JTD 8v).
