Hi,

I currently own a Punto and have been looking to replace with a Stilo.

Which one of the following would you get:

1) Low Milage 2002 Dynamic with Sky Roof

2) 2004 Pre Reg Active Aircon.

Main reason for wanting number one is the sky roof and more toys, but not sure if I'm asking for problems being an early model.

King Chris

I'd go for the active aircon, if its a 1.4 and not a 1.2. No mot for 3years, 1 years tax, new tyres, 1 year till service and 3 years breakdown cover so it won't cost as much to run as the 1st one.

Whats Wrong With The 1.2? Ok So On A Motorway Overtaking Can Be Interesting, But Ive Just Driven From Notts To London At An Average Speed Of 85, And Still Got 40mpg.around Town Its A Great Car , Plenty Of Acceleration If You Use The Whole Rev Range And An Average Of 38mpg.i Fitted A K&n Filter And The Extra 4-5 Bhp Does Seem To Have Made A Difference To The Car Being Able To Hold Speed On Gradients

I have driven the 1.2 as a courtesy car - I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised with its performance BUT it would not be the choice engine for me. All depends what you are used to, BUT no guts for overtaking would just wind me up.....imo :)

1.2 16v is an option but 1.6 or 1.4 prefered.

Really good deals on nearly new 1.2s.

I only have the 1.2 8v in the punto so anything is faster,

When then Punto broke the AA gave me the 1.4 stilo which had great economy and seems much faster then the punto.

I think I've discounted the 1.2 but might try one If I can get a decent deal.

Have you thought about getting a diesel one?
Dunno what they cost to buy used but the running costs are good and they're only group 5 insurance but they've got excellent performance.

I only do around 10k - 12k a year, I was under the impression servicing was more expensive for diesel ?

Does anyone know anything about the new XBOX edition?

Please no! Fiat have made a Stilo xbox? :( How uncool!

I think I am correct in saying that generally a diesel needs servicing a lot less infrequently....

"A diesel engine never dies from use but it dies from neglect"

ahhhh Mr Fiat what are you doing?! I think using another companies brandname to try and brand your own product doesn't do either company any good. There are instances of other car companies doing the same just none come to mind. I know Renault messed up and maybe something like the Clio Coca Cola...nope, i've got it, I think it was the Clio MTV, aghhh!

I assume it has an xbox built in then? (you have to ask!)

But look at the extra fun you would have? On that mileage, you would need an annual service anyway. AND is the differential that much?

PLUS they can be tweaked to 155/170bhp relatively easy.

All depends what you want out the car, tbh. Everyone has different needs.

Ferrari & Harvey Nicholls
Also Bentley and Breitling (for the in-dash clock).

At this time of year the dealers are quiet in terms of sales so its more of a buyers market, I would test drive both but also haggle a deal in a new/pre-reg Dynamic or Sport. I asked my dealer today if they were busy and they said no as no-one has much cash to spend after christmas ;) so haggle!!! look on JamJar and print out what car and specs you would like and say to them match that as they are normally a few £k off a dealer price.

Like the others have said a new/pre-reg will have 3yrs ( or near ) worth of warranty and AA cover and if its a MY04 build alot of the issues with the early version have been ironed out, not every one but most...

Having Defended My 1.2 I Must Now Admit Im Looking To Buy A Jtd. I Dont Think The Old Rule Of Only Buying A Diesel If You Do Lots Of Miles Applies Because At The Moment Discounts On New Ones Is As Good As Petrol Versions.check Out Broadspeed For New Cars, Woodleigh Fiat For Used.
