My old clutch is probably not toooooo bad (just 90,000 miles on it) but the flywheel is still the factory original and now has 206,000 miles under its belt. Needless to say, it's grumbling like a bastard.. :D so we needs a new 4-piece set.

The various auto-factors I've tapped up have all been singularly ****e at identifying the replacement Valeo kit (I only want a Valeo kit) that will do the job.

Gerrard, was built in December 2003.. but he's a 2004 model.. and there was a clutch spec' change in mid-December 2003 which confuses all the parts computers. I say "late 2003"... they hear "December 2003". I tell them the chassis number and they tell me it's got an external slave cylinder.. even though I changed the CSC myself last time, and I really, really did find it inside the bell-housing.

So just for a bit of fun, I'm going to have a poll .. let the massed intelligence of the FiatForum decide which clutch I should buy, and go with that.

Valeo's 4pce clutch kit seems to come down to;

837005: This is a 834005 kit, plus a 836034 DMF.
837004: This is a 834036 kit, plus a 836004 DMF.

Feel free to correct me.

Last time, my 3 piece kit was an 834005 (you can see which way it's headed) but no bugger will confirm I need an 837005 kit.

Anyone who has the books/skill/expertise to be able to convert my car 00431952 into a Valeo kit number, please chip in.

I tried it. Apart from it says “from 01/2004” and my car is a late Dec 2003 which causes all the confusion, everything else points to 837005... particularly as the clutch in this kit is the 834005 as I’ve fitted before.. plus the DMF which is the same item as in the alternative kit.

I’ll order one up... but it’s a pity the auto factors can’t work it out. If it really doesn’t fit they’ll say “aaaah but yours is a 2003.. why did you order the 2004 kit?” :D
