Which CD Changer to get???

Hi i was wondering which CD Changer to get for my Bravo.

I have a Fiat CD Compatible Radio and was wondering on which Changer to get.

Previously in my old Bravo i installed a Sony T69 6Disc changer and the convertor box which i installed cleverly under the rear seats.

Now i am in two minds whether to get the Grundig MCD46 Changer as the price of them have come down alot.

I can get them for:

Sony T69 + Convertor : £145 Delivered
Grundig MCD46 : £162 Delivered

Is it worth paying the extra £17 for the Grundig or not?

For those of you with the Grundig ones, how are they for playing CDR's, CDRW's copies.

Anyone with pictures of the Grundig Changer installed factory fitted into the Bravo? Just like to see how and where Fiat installed it originally.

Another reason i am thinking about the Grundig one is because:

1 - Its O.E for the Fiat Radio
2 - No convertor box swinging around behind dash
3 - Only one cable to the HU.

I dont want to change the Headunit incase you say that.

Thanks

empiredirect.com sell the sont t69 for 100 quid, just thought id tell ya

Cd players

Take your hunderd quid go to www.bassjunkies.com or www.caraudiodirect.co.uk or even halfrauds and buy a new headunit with a built in cdplayer!!!!

the fiat radio is crap!!! anything for £100 has to be better than a grundig pile of poo!!!

look at it this way. if you was in an eletrical shop buying a home cdplayer! would you buy the nice technics system or the cheep shitty grundig/bush! get the drift

Re: Cd players

For the £100 at Empiredirect you get only the CD Changer and since the Radio in the Fiat is Grundig and not a Sony, you will need to buy the connector(convertor) to make it compatible at an extra cost of £65 from empiredirect.

Why destroy the nice curves of the dash with an aftermarket radio, i don't need loud systems and fancy displays. I just wanna play CD's. Also i don't like carrying a small box with me everywhere i go.

Anyone have pics of there aftermarket radio then so i can have a look how bad or how good it looks.

I know there are a number of adapter plates for the fascia.

Cheers

Re: Aftermarket Head Units

@Blackbravo I don't fancy making my own as I aint too good at stuff like that. But that does look good.

@Ash Pics would be much appreciated.

Having these adapters it looks like some radios won't work as some flip and by looking at audio accessories site, i doubt theres any clearance.

I have a budget of £180 poss £220.

Re: Aftermarket Head Units

Thanks for that, that was gonna be one of the facias i was gonna fit if i did fit an aftermarket radio. The fascia you have seems to have the bottom bit missing or its been cut out.

Have you modified it to accomodate the flip movements of your sony HU?

Thanks

Re: Aftermarket Head Units

Yeah mate got the flip down one so I cut the bottom out of it and there was 1 or 2mm clearance

Re: Aftermarket Head Units

Thanks, I don't to be cutting the fascia out though. I'm still not convinced that a aftermarket radio would look good in the dash, as the fiat radio is beautifully molded in...

However i found this

ffb1andspacer.jpg

It pushes the headunit out more, which i think is better but does anyone have one fitted? I mean if this was used and an aftermarket Headunit fitted, would the headunits surround on the radio be seen from above, as in will it protrude out, making it look tacky?

Also will the Radio security cage fit properly?

Thanks

Re: Aftermarket Head Units

Thanks for the pictures wiggy now i dont have to go out in the cold!!!

as for motorised headunits!!! buy one that isnt if you dont fancy choping up the facia adaptor there are loads of good hu around that will fit no probs

wiggy nice choping of the adaptor! is it still sturdy and does it rattle with all that plastic missing?

Re: Aftermarket Head Units

Can't you go to a scrappy and get a second hand changer. I have the fiat hu and changer and I have no problems. Obveously my sony HU was better but it got nicked :(

Fiat HU look better in my opinion and you should be able to puck up a second hand changer off someone????

Re: Aftermarket Head Units

It was fine.

Problem was that you could just pull the adaptor out with no problems.

If I was to do again I would bolt the facia in or glue it because IT was not sturdy.

There was no rattle though. I got mine from auto audio accessories :) nice guy great price

Re: Aftermarket Head Units

Where CD Changers standard on the SX's??? What about HLX's or HGT's?

I'll have another look in the scrappy, otherwise i'll buy a new one.

Wiggy which Changer do you have? Is it the Grundig one?

If so does it play copied CD's well? What about it skipping? Does it skip much? Any problems with it?

I previously had Sony T69 Changer in my old Bravo, wish i took it out now, but i had no problems with it at all, it was the connector/convertor box that was a little annoying as it knocked around behind the dash board.

Re: Aftermarket Head Units

Mine was in when I bought it so I presume it was an option because I have an SX.

It was situated under my back seats.

The CD does skip from time to time but that is on CD-r's and normal CD's. I'm not sure whether it plays CD-RW's but with the price of CD-r's who cares :p

re

howdya get beneath the back seats then?
i might have a changer sitting there wiyhout realising it.

Re: re

Run your fingers to the back of the rear seats (bum part) and grab a hold and pull up and towards you.

Re: re

I've decided to buy a CD Changer instead, i have been told by afew audio shops that the fascia plates are very easy to be removed, hence making it very easy for thieves.

They can just use a screw driver and brake it out and the radio will come out with hardly any effort.

I'll prob get the Sony T69 after christmas.
