When i let off the accelerator, there is a clunk ?

Hi Guys.
I know im new to this site but i really want to know if this is normal or actually a big problem !
When im driving along, the car drives like a dream ! BUT ! when i take my foot off the accelerator, it makes a clunk sound like a second after?
Its worse in the lower gears as its not really noticeable in 5th, 6th but i have looked on the common problems and nothing relating to this :/
Could this be clutch or the gearbox ? or simply just the accelerator pedal ?
It doesnt affect the way the car drives at all but just sounds worrying ha !
If anyone could help in any way id be more than grateful !

Most likely a gearbox mount (normally clunking after acceleration is the rear one as that is the one that takes the load under acceleration, more noticeable in lower gears because the torque forces are greater).

yes i agree, bottom dogbone mount under the gearbox, both my punto and panda did it, replaced mounting fault goes away

Driveway.

Jack the car up, put it on axle stands (One side will do, front and rear for extra safety). Remove jack and lower onto said stand(s).

Put the jack under arm that attaches to the mount and raise it so it is just touching in to more. (i.e not lifting the car off the stands)

Undo mount, pull off. Offer up new mount, bolt up. (you man need to slightly lower jack to do that depending on mounts design, then re-raise the jack to pit the arm and mount back into position), bolt up, remove jack from under car.

Jack up car again, remove axle stands, lower gently.

Job done, have a cup of tea

There are 2 parts to the rear engine mount and often all they need is slackened off and re-torqued. Unless you can see physical damage then a reposition/tighten is all it will probably need. Doesn't cost anything to try!

This is what i was going to try first
If I don't have to replace the part then that's just a added bonus !

I have this same issue, a thud/clunk when coming off the accelerator pedal too fast. But if I coast off the pedal slowly there is no clunk. So I presume its the gearbox mounts.

But does this issue also cause a rough shaking idle? After about 1500 rpm the engine smooths out to normal, but idle and slow take off is horrible.
