Technical Wheel nuts, offset and spacers.

I've just spent quite a while looking into this, and sourced my 17mm hubcentric spacers from Walkers at Northallerton. I was amazed at how many so-called tuning places were clueless and quite prepared to sell me something they didn't know about. Walkers had them on the shelf and delivered next day for a fiver.

At the same time i've converted the car to studs (Rally Design).

Cheers, John

If your running the standard 13" wheels, would there be any appreciable difference in handling due to a lower centre of gravity, if I fitted spacers??

20mm on either side would give a 4cm width to the car, and as long as the wheels were under the arches (haven't checked if 20mm would be too big), would it be worth doing?? Or would it not be very noticable?

no i would think its throwing the geometry out.(no expert on it though!)
you mean your widening the track as its not lowering the centre of gravity.
for the cost of longer bolts and hubcentric spacers you could change the springs and even shox if you go for a cheap set up and get true handling improvements

Well, suspension is being done at the mo, its on axel stands! The dampers and springs as in sig.

I found a page earlier that said if you increase the track width it effectivly lowers the centre of gravity, I can't find it any more but:

here states:

and / or to obtain a slightly wider wheel track for enhanced cornering stability.

Thats another I came across. Just wondering if it would be noticable at all in terms of handling and body roll?

£47 for hubcentic that bolt to the hub, get to use the origional bolts.

Thats not too bad if it gives a noticable improvment....but then i may need the rear doing as well for the benefit...so that makes it almost a ton...a lot more prohibitive. £50 doesn't seem to steep for the front, if it will be an improvment, hence asking :) don't fancy £50 if its worse handling lol :)
