hi, just new to forum, I got a fiat cinquecento few months ago, al has been fine.... till now.

Just got new back half of exhaust and getting new front half with the cat done in morning. Just wondering why the car seems to be drinking petrol! its been fine up till now, was it the big hole in exhaust causing it? also the red engine managment light comes on at random times for random lenghts so whats wrong with that?

Also how do i tighten the fan belt as its making a horroble screaming noise, especially when wet.

plaese help me get my little baby back to normal

The light maybe due to the lambda sensor getting funny readings due to the exhaust leaking which inturn could up your fuel consumption.

Best get a full service just to be sure.

Not tightened the belt before but surely loosening the alternator mounting and pushing back the alternator and re-tightenin should do it but do ensre you cna twist the belt with your fingers as too tight equals snap!

tighten the belt by slackening off two of the alternator bolts. You need to remove the drivers side wheel and wheel arch liner to do this, when u loosen them, u need to push the alternator down and toward the back of the car and then re-tighten them

the fuel drinking and injector light could be lambda sensor. am i right in thinking u had the down pipe and cat swapped - this bit of pipe includes the lambda and should've been replaced at the same time - check if it was done, if not then it sounds like its been damaged.

Hey,

The sqeaking noise could well be the water pump bearings gone. If you're gonna try and tighten the cam belt, you may as well change the water pump just in case cos it would save striping the whole of the driver side of the car again.

i got mine from www.sapmotorparts.com for £15.
