Not trying to be a "know it all" but I thought Pure Argon was the gas of choice for general Tig welding, I used CO2 with my Mig welders after moving on from Oxy/Acetylene and wanted to use that on my Tig but was told "no way" it will burn the tungstens by one of my customers who used to teach pipe line welding etc. The limit of my welding instruction at Motor vehicle college in 1969 was the lecturer showing us how to set a Ox/Acetylene torch flame and then telling us to join two pieces of 1/8th steel together in a lap joint in the vice, I did a fairly neat weld as we had gas gear at the garage I worked for, however lecturer then proceeded to pull it apart using grips to show I hadn't got enough penetration through the metal, so I did learn something.:)

By the way if you want a really effective weight loss method, I lost a stone (14lbs)in a month but I wouldn't recommend it. I found a girl I really loved and wanted to stay with forever, married, bought a house, 18 months later I get a solicitors letter from her admitting adultery, saying she wanted a divorce and cleared me out financially, half of the home I paid for, a 1960s Fiat 500 and a 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV Bertone! I was still working as foreman of a multi franchise dealership but after paying my bills so I could keep the house, I was left with minus £2 unless I got any tips etc. My diet was black coffee and spam sandwiches. Luckily things stabilised and later in 1982 I went self employed, never rich but it did support second wife and five children.:)
Pah ... WOMEN!!
You know, I woke up today and my Mrs had gone shopping

IN NOOP!!!!! SHE ACTUALLY TOOK NOOP!!!!!!!

Woke up today ...

My hair doesnt hurt!

I need to drill the wall for bathroom extractor and Im not looking forward to it.
I did that in my first house, a 200 year old farm labourers cottage (2 up and 2 down) bathroom was a later addition in the basement with no exterior windows, so needed to fit an extractor fan for the shower.
I wanted to make a 6 inch hole to put the pipe through and ended up with something nearer to 24 inches as when you drilled it was either rock hard lumps of granite or very soft mortar, the lumps of rock were just about able to be lifted on your own!:(

Seconded. I think its best not to ask.... I think other things will get me before diabetes, but its a good remionder to think about what you eat as well as may way.

Eat what I think about LOL
Yes I have always preferred the "See food diet" as in see food and eat it.;)
Today I read a bit in local paper , it says there are cases Pancreatitus being linked to GLP-1 medicines (glucagon-like peptide-1Receptor agonists) that have been fatal.
No idea what that means re the meds, but presumably if you are on Diabetic meds you will know about it, or not.:(

Im very suspicious of the weight loss drugs now coming available too. I would want to see a few million other people trial these before ever considering that action. Ive lost weight doing building work so my biggest problem is my trousers falling off!

Interesting program on TV about electric car safety last night. It seemed to suggest that things are not exactly where they need to be on a few safety issues. The fire thing in particular. The telling statement form a very senior international fire research officer (based in UK unsuprisingly) was that the limitation on EVs is that there are issues with the emergency services not yet beinggeared up to cope with issues that arrive and unable to respond. Quite concerning.

Nice clip of a Tesla emergency stopping in a highway tunnel in the USA whilst in self driving mode in heavy traffic. What a lovely pile up.....

I still sit on the fence about EVs one concern is the end of life disposal cost and who exactly pays for it. If you cant afford a new EV its a big consideration so thats me and many others I suspect.

Rapid weight loss is associated with women of a certain age developing gall stones, which is one of the main causes of pancreatitis, the other being alcohol. I’ve not read the report but my understanding is that these are people who have been taking the medication and then developed pancreatitis but there is no direct link between the drug and the pancreatitis.

Like being hit by a bus, going to hospital, having surgery and then developing a blood clot because of the surgery and dying… the bus didn’t directly cause the blood clot, but without the bus you’d have probably been fine.

The drug didn’t cause the gall stone that blocked the bile duct, but the rapid weight loss did, and then as a result of that you got Acute pancreatitis, which is not uncommon in people with gall stones

I need to drill the wall for bathroom extractor and Im not looking forward to it.
Strangely enough, I've just finished fitting a through the wall extractor fan in our understairs cupboard that's been turned into a downstairs loo. Did a 110mm hole through the wall for the soil pipe (stack conveniently a few feet to the left of where I wanted to connect the pipe) and another 110mm hole further up on the wall for the extractor fan. Bought a new 110mm core drill, (didn't have that size, only ones for smaller waste pipes (32 & 40mm)
Overall on, ear defenders on, dust mask on, door shut (with me inside the room!!) and away we went. Put a 6mm pilot right through the cavity in both spots, then set about it with the 110mm core drill.
Loads of dust, and noise, but internal walls were reasonable soft bricks . Once through to the cavity from inside, then went outside and did the external ones (previous 6mm pilot for lining up the holes!!) House is pebble dashed on outside, so first had to clear all the pebbles in the cutting circle with a hammer and small chisel to allow cutter to cut an 'on line' hole. Harder bricks on the outside, so a few stops to let drill bit cool down. and remove the debris from it. All in all a nest and tidy job. Waste pipe fitted to stack and through wall into loo ready for pan to be connected to the trap, and fan ready to be wired up to the isolator/ switching. Pan fitted and all plumbing routed to the cistern and for the handbasin going on the wall nearby. Now just have to drill the basin waste and connect it up. (loo working all OK, basin still needs waste. otherwise, a good days work!! (need a bath to restore the 'natural' colour to my hair and beard, (currently 'white!) :D )

Want a job? Lol I drilled the inside half but It interferes with the boiler condensate pipe outside so I need to move that. Its one of those places where there is limited space. Im considering discharging the condensate into the porch gutter as an easy option. Needs more thought

Apparently wore the biggun out as he dived into the boot to lie down as I was changing the little un.

Discovered that the fuel range indicator is a little bit coy, opposite to the Citroën one. At 70mph.. every 1.5-2 miles covered reduces predicted range by 1 mile. This was just as well as the little one was grumpy on the way out so didn't want to stop and fill up so he'd settle in the car as was at that state where every time you stop he gets loud. It was showing 95 miles on a 90 mile trip, on the way in we arrived at the petrol station with 30 miles remaining..and thankfully the baby asleep.

Just what I thought! My granddaughter, now 11, seems to have absolutely shot up in the last 6 months. I can see early signs of "teenagerism" in her too, she's becoming more argumentative and argues with her Mum and Granny more. Still likes a cuddle with gullible old grandad though - I freely admit she has me wrapped around her little finger!

Girls mature much earlier than boys, the terrible twos come at 18mths and then, just don’t stop!

I was slowly catching a Panda on the motorway, wondered what I was seeing

Looked like an oversize motorbike rack 🤔

It was actually a vehicle transporter trailer, flatbed, but single wheel
(I suspect a twin wheel would be above the Pandas weight limit)

Cheap way of delivering a trailer maybe..? 🤔

That trailer would be over nthe limit too. My 6 x 4 weighs 400kg empty following strengthening to take weight....

Panda shrugs this and 450kgs off easily but I wouldnt like to have to explain in too much detail. The last Panda 4x4 towed my caravan (in an emergency) with poise and ease but that was somewhat above what its supposed to do. The only thing that made me feel uneasy was straining its clutch. With 4x4 and crawler first gear its capability is unquestionable.

Pandas on the top!
