The only modification is the aftermarket stereo and that's a crap one at best.

We'll say £3,000 difference. That's provisional, theory test, forty lessons, practical test, pass plus and a deposit for a new car (with free insurance).

Value of car always used to argue insurance costs, never relevant.

If you are involved in a collision, you are liable to recompense anyone or anything you damage. I think personal injury or death is capped at £2million. That's each person.
So you hit a bus queue. You could be liable to pay out £2million to each of the six people standing there. Plus the same for each of your 3 passengers.
This is the risk the insurance company take on, their premium reflects there assessment of you as a risk.
£3000 could just be their way of refusing you.

The seicento has a (very) poor safety rating, a learner driver without a licence and an instructor who is not an authorised driving instructor, given that for at least the last 10 years young drivers insurances are routinely in the multiple thousands the figure quoted above seems pretty standard.

Also you can't actually buy self driving cars so not sure the conspiracy holds up.

As long as insurance insurance is a legal requirement the price should be regulated.

Whether a new driver or an experienced advanced driver hits a line of pedestrians the cost is the same (the 2mil each). And to be honest youre either sensible or not. I see sensible new drivers and re*ars new drivers. I see experienced safe drivers and idiot safe drivers (normally Audi drivers to be honest lol). so so many factors in human beings can come into how much risk they are to crash but I still reckon there's no real logic other than making a fortune by insurance companies.

And they're quick to refuse to pay when you do need something (from what i hear)

Tbf insurance is calculated on the risk factors on the policy...so driver experience, 0..car safety..0, car safety equipment 0..ok let's think of a huge number that effectively says we don't want this business.

I got a quote for my little 500, few years driving/NCB, whatever, quote was £21,000. They just don't want the business.

Pricing to make new cars the viable option. Stacked with so many drivers aids they may as well be drones anyway.

Interestingly I just got a quote for the Cinquecento Sporting. It does qualify as a classic while the 2001 Seicento doesn't despite the rarity, no sunroof at all and was £50 cheaper for me and £1,100 cheaper with my nephew.

If I recall my old Cinquecento Soleil was a little more to insure than my Sporting so maybe it's the theft risk or cost of replacing the sunroof that's a factor in the quotations as well.

Interview today, at a place where I already work, yet still have to go through the whole competency-based nonsense. Bugs me, these guys have known me for 7+ years, they should know by now whether or not they want me to do the job, hell one of them even asked me if I was going to apply!

I know that one, I'm currently waiting for my supervisor to return from holiday, so the job I'm doing and the company has already spent money training me for can be advertised, so I can apply for it with the goal of getting an interview with my supervisor which will be competency based..

I obviously do hope I'm the most competent person in the company to do the job I'm doing already..

They have to follow the correct process but it's rather annoying given stuff like this has been going on since 2014.

More work rants! Yay I know..

But yes we work together to cover different sites and each site has different management styles. Was covering with a lovely fella but damn it they train them different down there. It's all how to guides, prescriptive measures and if it goes off piste refer to someone higher up.

Of course it went sideways tonight out of hours and bless him he was an utter chocolate fireguard. You know what that's fine thats why there's 2 people on.

However the end of day email from him...royal We..i'll let that slide but you neither spotted the problem/fixed it or did anything other than get me a telephone number.

1st I decided that although I've sworn off washing my wife's car because I just get annoyed that I had to take the bird poo off the rear door. It took half an hour and while I started off with kitchen paper I ended up with cutting compound!

2nd Citroen rang, good news the C3 is ready for delivery on the 1st of September, oh great will it still be ready in mid October when we actually asked you to get it for?

2nd Citroen rang, good news the C3 is ready for delivery on the 1st of September, oh great will it still be ready in mid October when we actually asked you to get it for?

Of course it will still be ready sir. It will however have a flat battery, that will keep letting you down, but will not fail completely until after the warranty expires. It will also be covered in bird poo, as we hear you enjoy removing it.

Or, if we can, we'll sell it to someone else, and replace it with one, similar, but not quite the spec you ordered.

Or we could put it in the showroom, and let everyone and their kids climb all over it.

Sorry, but it is impossible to order a car from the manufacturer for a specific build date, unless you've ordered an exotic perhaps. So it has arrived early. Shame they did not pay attention, and have now told you, they could have kept it safely and secretly.

I take your point but it's not a special order...its literally a standard spec car they could sell it twice over and get another one in before October when it's meant to arrive. Wouldn't matter to us if we got a later build date...the lead time is 6 weeks we could order one now and it would still be here before mid October.

It's just a bit annoying when you've had a conversation with them about when you need it for, they've agreed to do that and then they phone you 8 weeks before then and say good news you can pick your car up asap..they are going to store it but now we get a car that's sat around for 2 months.

What the hell are they eating at the moment? A bird decided to relieve itself on my windscreen this morning...

The quantity left suggested the offending bird was:-

(a) the size of an albatross or...

(b) an average sized bird had exploded.

Furthermore, it had set so hard it was like cement! After scrubbing away with warm water and a cloth for what seemed like an eternity I started to wish that I'd put a hammer and chisel in the boot 'just in case' [emoji36]
