What's made you grumpy today?

non flashing lights still get you seen, highway code even advises against using flashing ones in unlit areas, ****s still use them though, makes it easier to spot **** and non **** cyclists though

Flashing lights get you seen better than none flashing Been lower powered and less glare than most HID car lights it instantly stands out as a Cyclist. and the static light argument is more aimed at helping the cyclist see themselves to spot potholes and the like...

I cant see the issue myself if a 2xaa flashing LED cycle light blinds you/ causes headaches how the heck do drivers who claim to suffer from such ailments get on along a dark or unlit motorway when the highways agency are working with every vehicle displaying a array of high intensity LED and strobe based lighting?

or even things like level crossing beacons which have all been upgraded recently to LED inline with new rail track standards ?

Brain dead drivers even miss these things...

so every little chance i have of been more visible and easily seen i'll do just that..

heres a full run down on cycle lighting for those wanting to know.. http://www.cyclistsdefencefund.org.uk/cycle-lighting

know we have had the debate about legal lights before..

I run a BS rear led static lamp to help drivers judge distance and be seen side on but to be fair the light output especially against a backdrop of most modern cars with led tail lights is pathetic ....... along side a 1/2w flashing led light mounted low down near the rear derailure bright enough to catch peoples eye but not so high as to blind them...

at the front i have a static K marked (german standard) LED headlamp which has a cut off like a car headlamp on constant..

then a secondary LED "main beam" that i use as i would if driving a car.. on high when no oncoming traffic..

if in a busy street lit area i run it on flashing to attract attention...

coupled with a high vis jacket or vest wheel reflectors and bits of reflective tape on the frame and people still Pull out on me/ cut me up/ drive like i do not exist...

I find morons without bike lights far more of an issue than those who go out their way to be seen...

if you are that concerned for your safety on the road sit inside a metal box like the rest of us

Nah i dont want to end up a overweight unfit lump of lard in later life sat on a coronary care unit awaiting the grim reaper

besides your tin box doesn't grant immortality even against something as small as a motorbike

A bike lets you use those cycle lane things too which make the journey across town so much safer..... along with allowing me priority at red lights and in some instances letting me ride past them without the need to stop :slayer: and let me take short cuts avoiding all the lazy sods sat in their cars all together on bridal ways/ segregated cycle paths / throw in a few high speed dismounts and suddenly subways also come in handy when the road is blocked too

Oh and i also get to save money by using the bike as i dont need to pay to park the car if i pop into town no waiting restrictions, no traffic gastapo officer to worry about and i dont need to use fuel for a a 5 minute journey which by car would take 15+

I saw my motorbike for the first time in a week or so yesterday - it's been at my nan's since I got knocked off it and smashed it to bits. What a sorry state it's in:cry:

Getting up at 6:15 to take my dad in for an operation. He wasn't due there till 7:45 but by the time you've given him 30 mins to wander aimlessly round the hospital and then the drive from his to Gateshead at going to work time only just made it.

do you not have dial a ride up there? they love it it gets them to where they are going with loads of other old buggers to moan with on the way.

ebay buyer made me grumpy, just assuming collection is ok after they have won even though the auction didn't offer it and they didn't ask before bidding.

also tooth ache has kept me awake most of the night and i cant afford to go dentist :(

Moving house soon and still last minute glitches, plus I now have a fever and have masses of packing to do. Gotta cancel/change all contacts/services. Plus two fillings yesterday and on antibiotics. Sitting here in my dressing gown. Ugh!

It may have been a possibility or it would have been if he hadn't kept it all a big secret until 8pm the evening before to arrange transport...you can choose your friends...

My Dad had a biss who kept calling him Dave (his name is Paul). One day he just turned round and called him Trigger. Kinda stuck for both of them lol

People are forever spelling my names wrong (Shaun is the most common and Woodcroft instead of Woodcraft)

Bloke turning up viewing the micra making encouraging noises then offering a grand...if there were faults that needed fixing perhaps but fact is a grand will buy you a facelift K11 or a crash damaged/low spec or intergalactic mileage k12. This is none of those things hell it owes us 600 quid in parts alone for this year.

Oh well only been for sale for 12 hours at this point.

Sorry mate, I didn't see you. Now if you can just pull this 26 tonne bright yellow Mercedes covered with flashing lights off my head, I'll be on my way and we'll say no more about it.

Actually, a couple of nights ago, I was at work and Mrs. Beard was doing some ironing in the front bedroom when she heard a crash. She went to the junction with the A57 (about 50 yards away) and found a young guy had been knocked off his motorbike by a car turning across his path. He had his headlight on but still the myopic cow didn't see him.

We've since found out that he's received minor neck injuries, concussion and (technically) a broken back, T8.

Ouch so he wasn't seen with a 50w headlamp ... Yet people moan about push bikes with bright lights... Poor chap :(
