What are the chances that 2 cars registered a year apart from different manufacturers but with the same reg except the year indicator. Would park next to each other in a supermarket carpark
IMG_3777.jpeg

When had my first mk1 I came back to it in a shopping centre one day to find someone had parked next to it in an identical mk1 with only one number out on the reg.

And when we had the mk2b HGT we parked next to a car in the same shopping centre which was a blue lower spec mk2b that also had only one digit out on the reg and that car was first registered in Kent

Just got of the phone to my nearest main Fiat dealer to order the rear lights seals for the Seicento as I couldn't find them anywhere else, gave him the part numbers etc & open wallet surgery is definitely the right saying for these as they are £53.......Each😱 & will take 7-10 days as they have to come from Italy, if they ever need replacing again I'll be making them, I'll take the measurements of the new ones when I get them as they are genuine Fiat parts

Rhetoric question? or do you want someone to work out the probability. Highly skewed by the cars being in the same area so the first two area letter will likely be the same.

Why not do a template and post on resources

That's a good idea, I'll do that when I get them, will probably be towards the end of the week, I certainly won't be paying £53 each again 😂 & I don't think many other Cento owner's would want to part with that sort of money either, I'm also considering using my spare clutch quadrant as a template to make one out of metal as they are quite hard to get hold off & also my dad told me he was sure they used to do metal aftermarket ones for a short while as he remembers changing the quadrants on Cento's quite a lot when they weren't that old 😂 so that's what I'm thinking when I do have to change it then it will be a fit & forget item, well that's the theory anyway 🤣

Sadly came to this thread late.
Many light seals can be removed and refitted back-to-front, so the inner face becomes the outer. This will often give them a new lease of life. Often they are fitted in a groove. The seal to the light seals around the outer edge, whereas the seal to the car body tends to seal at the face.

Sometimes simple round or square section seals can be made using silicone. Cut the nozzle to an appropriate size, and squeeze out a consistent bead all the way around to make a new seal, sitting proud as the rubber one should. Leave it to completely set. May take a couple of days. Then you have a new seal. Don't refit the lamp until the sealant is set, or it will squish.

The Seicento light seals are the foam type with self adhesive back on them which I think just sit against the body by the looks of it, I would have turned them around but on closer inspection they're not in the best condition, i suppose they have just degraded with age, it doesn't look as if there's a particular groove which they sit in, have also just got hold of a genuine new old stock rear drivers side light as the existing is all cracked & faded, I was going to get one from a breakers but this one wasn't much more money new in the box so will fit that with the new light seals

So... you know how us FIRE engine owners enjoy complaining about the rusty coolant pipe tucked behind the exhaust manifold?

(I haven't had to change mine yet, I keep both ends of it slathered in grease / old oil)

My sister has a 2012 Hyundai i10 1.2 with the same problem, leaking rusty coolant pipe where it enters the (plastic) thermostat housing...

...I was thinking oh I could help her with that...

... and look where the thermostat is on an i10!

I'm in shock. Just need to remove undertray, air-con compressor, rear engine mount, coil pack, radiator hoses, fan and starter motor to get at the thermostat :(

That looks very similar to the thermostat job I did on one of my daughters cars, a 2010 VW Golf Plus 1.6 diesel and it was a right bas***d although I kept the manifold on, it had those VW/Skoda splined bolts and I only just got it out with alternator in place.
The reason I changed it was her car was only doing short runs to work so DPF codes were coming up. Even on a run temp was only getting 1.3rd up gauge. Now it quickly gets to 90 degrees, she uses DPF additive in every other tankful and I try to get her to use more than 2000rpm on a run;)

What a crazy place to put a service item :(

I wonder if that's just one of those adorable little woman 'things'? Like standing in doorways and putting bags on chairs.

I've given up suggesting dropping a gear or two to my sister. Don't want to be one of those back seat driver types.

Had to grit my teeth in the back seat as she tries to drag her i10, four-up, up a hill at 1500rpm in fifth.

I feel sorry for the wee car.

And she lives in the Lake District!

When I was teaching my first wife to drive in a 1965 Singer Gazelle before we got married, I was trying to be patient and telling her when to change gear, brake etc. She tells me to stop telling her what to do (if only I had listened to the warning signs!) any way I sit in silence as we go around a corner and the car starts violently shaking, she screams "what's the the matter, what's the matter?". Too which I replied "you are in the wrong f***ing gear!":)

Speaking of shocking I10s..this turned up sometime after midnight last night.

Wife came back from shift, everyone had put their bins in out, it was late it was dark she couldn't be chewed so parked elsewhere.

Just as well...

Hit next doors car, 3 bins before this one. But locks intact etc and has since disappeared...someone was on the sauce last night clearly and left once they slept it off.

Not a car from the street though..

thats the sort of parking that can only be achieved with alcohol on board.

There is a fairly famous video going round of someone in a Lamborghini Urus trying repeatedly to drive through some of those bollards the pop down for the right vehicle. The video it looks like the entrance to some posh flats so I presume the driver thought they would retract for them, they try about 3 times crashing into the bollards all 3 times then drive off leaving a trail of engine fluids as they go again, only do able if you're bladdered.

In this case the driver would have gotten out of that door so its not like he would not have seen the bin, they would have simply decided.... yeah that's the best I am going to do right now, and left it.

tell me you're single without telling me you're single. 😂

My first thought was it must be nicked and dumped, but no lock damage on the door or on the ignition barrel.

They may live in the next street along...if so he better hope next door doesn't catch him as his face was a picture.

Although if course he both took pictures of it in Situ and has CCTV cameras aimed at his Porsche with infrared lighting..so the chances of the culprit getting away Scot-free are pretty low.
