Morning all... if you have the Fiat roof rails then what do you people attach the roof bars (going accross the car) with??

I have done a bit of searching and found the Thule 775 fits the bill..
Is this what other people are using to attach bars to the existing rails.??

I specifically want to use the Thule Aero bars.

Please help, I'm wanting to purchase a set today if I can get confirmation on the Thule 775's.

MED.

edit: what the heck are roobar's? hah.. damn keyboard.

Not got them on my panda ..I think they are ugly :yuck:

Thankyou for the very constructive comment.:p(y):)

I have no choice, being a keen mountain biker I need to carry 2 bikes around with me.. So need the roof bars i'm afraid. Ugly I know but function over fashion in this case i'm afraid.. :(

Going to make it look well tall.. :(

Yup, 775 'foot pack' and 769 (square) bars fit my 4x4 perfectly (didn't get the more expensive aero bars as only use infrequently)

775 feet have a rubber covered spring steel strap that goes round the Fiat rails -- tightens using an allen key that's built into the cover of the foot unit. Also comes with locks in the price.

I can put both bars on the car in about five minutes, which seems pretty quick to me. You can even leave a bike carrier assembled to the bars and flip it all onto the car in one go (might need a helping hand there though)

3 years ago, before I took delivery of my 4x4, I bought some cross bars in Lidl for about £15, I felt that if they didn't fit I hadn't lost too much.
When the car was delivered I found that a little bit of carving away of the plastic on these bars allowed them to fit perfectly. I have since carried cycles on them for miles with nothing working loose and feel I got a real bargain. They also came with locks to secure them. Sadly, haven't seen them since in Lidl.
By the way, roobars are what the Australians call bullbars, they prevent damage to their vehicles when they hit Kangaroos on outback roads.

I recently got some cross-bars for my Panda. I wanted an 'all in one' easy fit system that could be locked in place, and looked at all the usual thule, halfrauds stuff etc.

I ended up with some Mont Blanc "ready fit" bars, which I'm very happy with. Bought from the web, can find the site address if anyone is interested. The car does look rather odd with a tandem kayak on the roof overhanging each end by a foot or two though :)

Cheers,
Minty.

Just bought some Thule roofbars (square ones as Halfrauds only do the extra aero bar fittings as a special order) and a Thule Ranger roofbox. Liked the idea of a foldable roofbox - won't have the storage problems of a hard roofbox. :D

And I'm hoping that wherever we go with it, we'll be able to remove the box at the destination and sneak it into the hotel room and not have to carry it around all the time...

I was looking at the roof mounted bike racks but after investigating price and ease of use i decided to go towbar and thule on the back...much easier..or rather from my experience...to access the bike from the back than to reach to the roof...
sorry bout the poor quality pics...crap phone....
