Hi,

I am new to this Forum. I have just ordered a new Fiat 500 and am trying to work out my options for playing media files. It looks like iPod is too difficault to get working and the best option seems to be to use a USB Memory Stick.

I prefer to have all my music available so I am looking to use WMA. This can only really work effectively if I can use a large memory stick, either a 16GB or 32GB card.

Has anyone tried this? Also, can Blue&Me cope with a very large number of albums/tracks. How easy is it to naviagte?

Thanks

Hi the highest i have used so far is a 4gb one and works perfectly, am sure i read somewhere that there were some people using 8gb and am also sure in the hand book it tells you the maximum size you can use.

As far as am aware there are some issues with certain brands of stick no working correctly but i may be mistaken.

as for an ipod i used to use a 8gb ipod nano in my GP and that worked fine was just like using a memory stick everything was controlled through the steering whell controls.

Oh yeah and a nice warm welcome to the world thats is the FIAT 500 :slayer:

80 Gb iPod, with 20 Gb loaded up.

As long as I switch iPod on and connect to USB before switching on ignition I have no problems. Navigation is easy via steering wheel controls.

I have a 500 lounge.

8 gig. But pay extra and buy a sandisk one. don't go with cheapo off brand ones. They take longer to mount and access and are susceptible to corruption. For instance, the craptacular 512mb fiat gives you when you buy the car is rubbish. If its in the slot when you start the car Blue&Me doesn't recognise it. Awful. I have 3x8 gig sandisk ones that I picked up for 25 quid each and they work perfect. They're also much faster for Blue&Me to build the media library when you first insert them.

Thanks for all your replies. I have started encoding all my music again as WMA and given the compression I am using, it should fit comfortably on a 16GB stick.

I am still a liitle concerned how the media player will respond with 4,700 songs. Will I have to wait a long time to get a list of albums, and will I be able to find the one I want out of a list of 350+?

I have recently got a Pocket PC that would have a similar music player. One of the problems it has is that it puts a large gap between each song it plays, so if you play an album, you may have to wait 5 or 10 seconds between each track. Has anyone had something similar on Blue&Me?

I was reading the blue+me booklet while bored in work the other day and the only limit on the size is the number of files the system can upload. IIRC it was about 20,000 tracks was the limit the system could deal with.
