Technical What I think of the windscreen washers on the 500

I gave my garage a ring and they said just to call in during the week and they'll glue it back in! It's a good job I've kept hold of it though as they're out of stock of them apparently. Sounds about right given the amount of people reporting it on here.

he said that Fiat has done a 'mod' and should have no more problems.
Fingers crossed he is right.

Anyone one know if latest builds have the mod? My wife's 500 is due early next month and this is the sort of irritation I should llike to avoid!

Well I was told, yesterday when they fixed mine, that the washer jets had been modified.
If this is true or not only time will tell.

I had mine replaced at the beginning of the year sometime, and ... they've popped out again :( Since my local dealer has now closed and getting to the next closest means a lengthy trek I'd be happy to replace them myself. Is there anywhere that sells them, or is it a dealer-only part?

I checked on my 500 and also the Panda today and noticed they had popped out, but not by much, would not have noticed if I had not seen the thread about it.

Have been wondering if it is worth chasing up on the 500, since its in 3rd year warrenty...

Guess I am having to deal with this now, it came flying out and went off somewhere over the windscreen tonight!

So is this covered under third year warrenty or will I be out of pocket sorting this? Or like Maisie was asking, can it be done at home easy enough?

LOL just got in and yep this thread is back, as 2 is the problem...the dam water falls r back!!! i thought fiat fixed this problem 4 me last year!!!! :yuck: back i go again :(

Believe it or not the damn washer jets on my Panda were one of the main reasons it had to go, which was a real shame as it was a cracking wee car:cry:… I had the jets replaced about 5 times under warranty & then started to get billed for replacements once into the 3RD year part of the warranty.
Now I’ve got the Punto Evo… no more problems! The washer jets don’t even freeze on it, its great. (y)
Why Fiat can’t change that crap design on the Panda & the 500 is beyond me.

I fixed mine today using the traditional blue tack method. When i looked, the little barrel was gone! I found it again under the drivers side clip that hides the wiper arm, so if you think you've lost yours, look under there as it may be hiding!

@ TJ07, might have been cheaper to buy Blue tack rather than change your car! :p

Tried that method too, unfortunately it didn’t work for long… even super glue didn’t work.
Just sooo glad the Evo doesn’t suffer the same problem… plus the extra power on the Evo makes it an even more worth while buy! :D

It's fairly annoying although I haven't lost one yet (touch wood!)

I'm going to blu-tak mine in today, I find it odd that the unit isn't enclosed and they can pop out like that!

Just had both mine replace at the dealer and within an hour they were both frozen and unusable again... not poped apart unusable just nothing will come out of them:(

so to summarise this without reading through all of the posts.... does this mean that if the washers freeze up then a bit pops out and they are ruined?

mine have not worked over the cold spell and there are bits sticking out of the right hand side (as you look from the front). As it happens it had a "free winter health check" a couple of weeks ago at fiat when they were fixing a problem with the blue and me module.

Is the only solution to get this into Fiat (again)

Mine were glued back in last year and have been fine this year, even though they've frozen several times (My fault for using cheapo screenwash!), I don't think temporary solutions will be any good during the winter time!

Using a good screenwash might help too, if you use one that is safe down to -25° then it'll help.
