General What did you do with your Panda today?

Today decided to deep clean the panda, hoovered, interior shampooed, plastics dressed, fabric guard applied, exterior wash, clay, Polish, sealant done. Also had the wheels off and cleaned all the wheel arches and sealed and dressed the arch plastics to keep them looking fresh. I think I need a beer :)

Today, following Deeyup's excellent post I fitted the Nextbase hard wire connection kit for my car cam. No more hanging cables from my rear view mirror now. Hooray !! Thanks again Deeyup for highlighting this piece of kit and posting those pictures. Made the job so much easier :)

Badly scuffed my front offside alloy on a stupidly-placed kerb in a dark and gloomy multi-storey in Preston. Very, very p*ssed off. Another reason never to return there.

I was Instructing at Cadwell Park yesterday, on a Skills Training Day and took the Panda as it was aimed at early, or first-timers on track and the less intimidating the better. I had a group of 5 folks to lead round and help in far more sporting vehicles (535d, Cooper S, M3 Cab, 123d etc) but the Panda did sterling work, finding grip in the mizzle-drizzle where other couldn't and all in all felt great. Despite the extra height now, it still drove beautifully and never missed a beat. Brakes were strong, lap after lap, even into the steep downhill Mansfield and although he pushed a little wide on the exit of that bend, it all went very well indeed. Pace lifted towards the end to a point where the other cars were dropping away (other than the Cooper S, which was really on it!) but the car took it all in its stride. Averaged 30.3mpg over those track miles.....

Then drove home the 3.5hrs in comfort on Cruise Control at an average of 47mpg and reflected on what a brilliant all round car the Panda is. Love it!

I can't wait for my warranty to run out so I can look into cruise control for the diesel.

For heavens' sake, don't wait for warranty to run out before fitting CC - it has nothing to do with Fiat and if ever there was a problem with the car, just unplug the CC and demonstrate that it is not causing the issue.

This doesn't surprise me - in fact in the wet, the only car of those I'd dare push would be the Cooper S (or the Panda, of course!) - we used to have a Clubman version and it was a really easy car to drive quickly in any conditions. Is your Panda the twinair? Bet you had a whale of a time making up the 100+bhp deficit in technique and grip! Still on the stock M+S tyres? They really are incredibly versatile, I'll replace like-for-like when the time comes.

I pulled the radio out of my missus' 1.2 Eleganze, pulled the fuse from that and put the radio back. Dam thing kept turning itself on and running the battery down. I suppose I will have to fit an after market one and make a facia panel.
Since when has a radio shared a main (in car) fuse with heater controls and car computers and other stuff.

Yes, a TA with the Conti Winter Contacts. It was really quite funny telling my group that they were chasing 875cc of Italy's finest, running on 2 cylinders, with winter Tyres and a car that measured only 75dB on noise test, a full 30dB under the days' llimit......!

The Magic word is: "CAN-Bus".

Unfortunately that's not how Fiat in Turkey see it. I've asked both the dealer warranty claims lawyer and Fiat corporate about it, and they all consider it a modification that voids the warranty, and treat any evidence of tampering with the throttle grounds for voiding all claims even if unrelated to the engine. I've even managed to get an extensive report on what will and won't void my warranty (which also states in very legalese language that these terms are subject to change without notification and claims may be dismissed by both Fiat and the dealer for reasons not included in the document), basically I can't do anything to the damn thing until the end of 2017. The slight weeping of the rear diff is why I purchased additional 2 years of warranty in the first place because the dealer techs dismissed it as "all diffs do that", so I'm waiting for it to fail catastrophically to prove them wrong, rub it in their faces, and get everything sorted. Unfortunately, they refuse to fix it and I haven't been able to break it. Even then, I'm somewhat cautious as they might just dismiss my claim by saying I engaged the ELD when I shouldn't have.

Brought some red mats to match the red seats, see what the qualities like if and when they arrive
