Can anyone please tell me what are all possible symptoms of Head Gasket failure?

Yesterday I saw foam-froth floating in my coolant tank. There was very slight creamy deposit under the oil filler cap. Does this point towards possibility of head gasket failure?

Though coolant level doesnt drop and heater is perfect.

when was the last time you serviced the car? some engine flush, a new oil filter and some oil will sort the mayo out. drain flush, refill and bleed the cooling system while the weather's nice, it need doing before winter incase it freezes. the main cause of head gasket failure is poor servicing and maintenance of the cooling system.

I just did that on sunday, the cooling system was completely cleaned, even checked the thermostat. The oil and filter was changed in May. after that done only about 500 miles. My wife uses the car for short runabouts. Is the short journey the cause of this?

If you changed the anti freeze and it had not been changed for a good few years the new anti freeze could eat throught the head gasket. If you have to change your head gasket you may as well buy a complete head gasket set and change the lot while you have the head off.
