Technical waterpump/cambelt/valve problem!!

Hi and thanks fer reading this! My '97 1.8ELX Brava packed up yesterday and looks like a fairly quick failure of the waterpump causing the cambelt to jump a tooth or so. Compression is now down on No1 cylinder, the rest are ok apparently. As a bill of £400 is expected i'm considering doing it myself. I'm looking to get the head off and have a look before ordering any parts. Any tips or advice would be much welcome!!

might be worth trying to source a complete engine if you can find one.

Before ordering any parts i'm going to have a look myself, nowt to lose!! Manual says depressurize the fuel system...is that necessary or just a safety precaution??
