Parked the car on Saturday and while walking away, heard a loud hissing sound coming from underneath the car. Wary of snakes, looked under the car from a safe distance only to find a puddle of liquid on the ground. The puddle was getting bigger as it was being fed by a drip from somewhere just behind the engine that was hitting the cat (hence the hiss) and then onto the floor.

I wondered if this might just be a run-off from the air conditioning system as I know these need to get rid of moisture that they collect as the air condenses being cooled. There seemed to be quite a lot of it for this however. It didn't smell of anything and wasn't oily so I think it's just water.

Any ideas what it might be?

could be a coolant leak, also the heater pipes enter the bulkhead just above the exhaust so could be that too. Suppose it could be condensate from the AirCon although on my car it appears to drain from the front offside.

It is most likely to be the aircon (nice of it to drip onto the exhaust system and help it rust!)

Did you have your aircon on for a fair amount of time and on a low setting? If so, then this may account for the amount of condensate. It seems to be pretty normal as my old A-class use to leave a huge puddle of water, so much so I once thought I'd blown the radiator!

Mine does exactly the same thing all the time, its really notceably in my garage because the floor is painted. I assumed it was the aircon - definitely not a fluid leak - might have a look underneath to see where the aircon pipe drains too, see if it can be repositioned a bit.
