Technical Warning for Marelli Twinair tuning box users.

Today I drove the car with the map enabled using button 2. I drove 115 miles but could not seem to get any falts to occur as I drove. But if anyone could tell me how to maybe get the fault to occur I could give it a go.

That's great news! If you don't experience any faults that's a real result : )
Did you notice a difference in performance?

I've noticed too that if you try to register now you cannot do it without VAT code and VAT number so that's in line with 'garages only' I guess.
I'm absolutely sure that I didn't enter a VAT code or a VAT number, but my registration went well. Did you answer Provincia/County with ESTERO? (Estero means foreign.) Did you uncheck the Checkstar Authorised Dealer box?

I can't remember what I picked or done. I just kept trying till it created an account. I think I looked online for a company that gave there vat and other info. All I wanted to do was try and update my module. Then only to find it had been removed.

It's when there is some hesitation in the revs at they rise, particularly noticeable if accelerating hard through the gears. Instead of vroooom you get v-v-v-vr-oo-oom hence the term 'sobbing'
Is The Twins the only forum member who noticed this "sobbing" phenomenon himself?

As I wrote earlier, I didn't notice it. Maybe because I used RON98 fuel???

I got told by Pietro that the map was removed because people said there was no gain fitting the module.
If so why was it removed from there database.

Hey, that's interesting and totally different than what this Mattia guy from DotShop said.

I use Shell Nitro stuff, that's 99RON so it's not about the fuel.

There is gain for sure, not night and day difference but you can feel the extra pull. I believe Mattia from Dotshop was very open and honest.

A member of the Dutch 500 forum asked the Dutch Magneti Marelli importer. According to the importer the software of the modules is being modified because of the different TA versions there are, but once the new software is there, delivery of the modules for the TA engines will start again.

The member of the Dutch 500 forum also consulted a Magneti Marelli Checkstar dealer. This dealer made some inquiries in Italy himself and answered that modules for all TA versions will be available soon.

This doesn't match with what Corsasri was told by Pietro the Magneti Marelli support guy. So, who is right?

I believe that mm are avoiding something. As I was told a few thugs by Pietro and then the message where I was told to use at my own risk. All I can say is contact mm and see what they tell you. That's if they reply to your email.

No, it's quite a mystery.
I can't understand why no one else notices the 'sobbing' issue as Mattia very honestly warned me about this and I experience exactly what he described.
I think Mattia is the only one being 100% honest about this.

Maybe because there are numerous TwinAir versions with totally different control strategies. First of all there are Euro 6 and Euro 5 engines, but even the Euro 5 TwinAir appeared in several different generations. According to the Dutch FIAT & Alfa Romeo tuner Squadra Tuning a big change in control strategy was made by FIAT somewhere around November 2011. Every different TwinAir version might respond differently on the presence of the Magneti Marelli tuning module.

I tested the module on a 85 hp TwinAir that was built in February 2011.

Do you experience the sobbing every time you drive. As I have not experienced it or am I misstaking the sobbing as normal running. Where are you located. May be we could meet up. I'm in Newbury Berkshire.

It's not there 100% of the time. But when it's there it's quite noticeable. Don't really get to Newbury much. I'll let you know if I'm down that way tho.

Could you try and explain how you get the fault to occur. What map setting your using and is it in eco or sport mode. What Rev area just try and give some info.
